J-MAN
Now that pitchers and catchers report this week - who's going to spring training and when? As a newbie this is our first time going down to Tucson (we are going down Tues. 3/6 - tickets for games Wed-Saturday) where do the Sox fans frequent ? Any tips on restaurants and places to go at night?

Palehosefan
I'll be there for the first time in Mid March to watch us play the Cubs and Angels.
Chisoxfn
I will be there over the last weekend of spring training. I won't be in Tuscon for any games as I'll see the Sox play in the Phoenix area two times and than see two non sox games.
iWiN4PreP
I may be there if prices go down or something. Quick Question : Does anyone know any good values either on hotels or airplanes flying from Florida to Tuscon (for spring training). If I get a good enough price, me and my family are gonna make it there.

Felix
I wanted to go over Spring Break, but alas, a lack of funds has set me back. Hopefully next year

Any tips on restaurants and places to go at night? I am taking my daughter the last week of March. There is a real good Japanese place called Sakura. It is on the other side of Tucson. The players frequent it. There are tons of photos of all different baseball players on the walls. It is busy, so be prepared to wait for a table, but it is well worth it. At the games, if you want an autograph, get to the compund early, and go back outside if you see someone you want come out of the game. Last year AJ and Buerhle would only sign baseballs, when I was there. Most of them will at least stop and say hi. Good luck and have fun!! NorthSideSox72
I'll be in the PHX area the first weekend of March. We are going to the game Monday, at the Brewers' facility. I'll try to take some decent pictures and share them on here like I did last year.

BHAMBARONS
I will be here all spring. I know for sure Sat March 3. Anybody attending games at TEP please add an extra half hour drive time for construction on I-10. All exit on ramps from Prince to 29th streets will be closed and all on ramps as well. I-10 will be down to one lane in downtown in other words a big mess for at least 3 more years.
RockRaines
i'll be there, sometime early in the session. I can meet y'all at TD's on speedway.

FLsouthsider
Sorry, I'm chiming in late here. Make sure to visit guero canelo for a Sonoran hot dog. Mmm, Sonoran hot dog. Caramelos are also fantastic. It's on 12th Ave., take Ajo west (toward the 19) from TEP and go south on 12th. http://www.elguerocanelo.com/ Also, if you're looking for a nice place to eat with the missus, Cafe Poca Cosa (it's downtown) is HIGHLY recommended. http://pocacosatucson.com/ Seriously, there are TONS of fantastic places to eat in Tucson, especially if you like Mexican food. If you're in a hurry, there's a Los Betos fairly close to the stadium at Ajo and Palo Verde (east of TEP on Ajo). It's middle-of-the-road Mexican food (certainly nowhere close to Tucson's best, but a big step up from craptacular Taco Bell), but it is kinda hard to screw up a carne asada burro. As a side note, I was at the U.S. vs. Mexico soccer match in Glendale a few weeks ago. It took longer to drive from Sky Harbor to Glendale than it did to drive from Tucson to Sky Harbor. So be careful what you wish for, Sox fans.
Wanne
QUOTE(FLsouthsider @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) As a side note, I was at the U.S. vs. Mexico soccer match in Glendale a few weeks ago. It took longer to drive from Sky Harbor to Glendale than it did to drive from Tucson to Sky Harbor. So be careful what you wish for, Sox fans. No way. I drove down this weekend to Tucson and I live in Glendale. Not a whole lot going on right now down there. It was fun though. Ate at Curruso's downtown. Didn't run into any construction...but my girlfriend is from Tucson so knew some shortcuts. Sucked though because there was so much crap going on one there, (Tucson Rodeo and a ton of soccer and softball tourneys). It was a b**** finding a room. If it took you longer to drive from Sky Harbor to Glendale...you must have gone very much out of your way or got lost. No way that happens...unless you hit rush hour and drove completely in the "rush". Get your map out and avoid I-10 westbound during rush hour. And for you dudes hitting Surprise...I'll make my annual "Stay off of Bell Rd at all cost" rant. Dunlap/Olive west to Litchfield or so and go up. Any of you guys want some shortycuts (believe me...I'm the king of shorty cuts out here because I HATE traffic)..PM me.

shawnhillegas
I'll be there for a couple days on "Spring Break." And by Spring Break I mean the one week off in the Spring where law students author 500 pages of outlines for exams.

I remember my first day in Phoenix getting driven at about 2:30 p.m on a Friday Afternoon, and that I-10 was just not moving, so I would also definitely recommend avoiding that road. If you can get on the 101 Freeway (for when they play in Glendale in the future) perhaps via another route that could be a way to go (although I'm sure Wanne definitely has some speedier routes). FLsouthsider
You calling me a liar? Seriously, traffic in Phoenix is AWFUL. Anyhoo, if anyone is going to be around Tucson this weekend, traffic will probably be backed up on I-10 around Marana, specifically the Tangerine Road exit. The PGA Tour is in town, so be forewarned if you'll be north of the city. Tiger lost today, so I already blew my chance to run into him at the Circle K. But if you are in town, and you like pro rodeo, La Fiesta de los Vaqueros is going on, too. It's at the Tucson Rodeo Grounds, which isn't too far from TEP. I'll be at the game Wednesday, probably in the lawn seats.
