I believe this is where the confusion is coming from

Good to hear as long as his "D" is there I could care less about his mid .200 avg

except .235 wasnt really mid. .250, yeah fine. Anything below is unacceptable. And Juan was pretty unacceptable all last year save a few minor streaks that brought his average up to .235

well mid .200 is the middle of the .200's aka about .250. I thought that was a given?

i missed the "mid", for sure. sorry about that

my excuse is that Im on my lunch, so I am scanning posts fast, typing fast, and thinking too fast. Most of the time I end up in an argument when that happens. Its my fault :D

either way i think uribe needs better than a .250 average let alone a .232 average to keep his job this year. big year for uribe's future with the sox IMO.

Seeing as how there's no realistic middle infield replacements out there for the Sox, I don't see how this could possibly be the case.

personally i would rather have cintron in there than an uribe who hits .232.

Cintron is probably a better contact hitter but much like Uribe can't take a walk and has basically no power which is Uribe's strong point. The defense on the other hand is where Uribe really takes it, night and day between the 2. Seeing as how SS is one of the top 2 defensive positions on the field, I don't see why anyone would want Cintron playing there everyday.

you're likely to get similar results out of the two OPS wise, with Uribe having a slugging percentage influenced OPS opposed to Cintron's mixed OB/SLG influenced OPS (and all that means is that they'll be similarily bad). However, Uribe's reward is much, much higher than Cintron's. In a good year, Cintron will put up a .750 OPS with about a .310 average, whereas Uribe will probably hit anywhere from .260-.280 with an OPS in the .775-.825 region - and that's not including Uribe's superior defensive play.
