Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 11:05 PM) Wow...no award for O'Toole! Just kill him now. Atleast you know the other actors (especially DiCaprio) have the ability to be nominated again. HERE WE GO -- BEST DIRECTOR!
bmags
QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 04:57 AM) Helen Mirren wins best actress. It seems a lot of actors/actress' are getting awards for playing someone who is/was real. I'd rather see more original performances to start winning. Philip Seymour Hoffman had to win. Jamie Fox did a good impression on Ray Charles. We have seen his other work and he isn't really that talented as an actor. I would be ok with lesser known portrayals of real people such as Theron in Monster. the task of impersonating one of the most visible figures of the 20th century is not an easy one. I haven't seen it but it appears she did it well.

Kid Gleason
O.K., the second you see Coppolla, Lucas, and Speilberg walk on stage together, you know who is going to win. That was one of the best Oscar moments ever though.

StrangeSox
I'm just glad to see Babel get mostly shut out. That movie sucked big time. Departed was great, though. Deserving of the win, I think. Edited February 26, 2007 by StrangeSox
Brian
Departed was good, but not as good as Goodfellas, Raging Bull, and Casino. Should of won for all 4!!!

Flash Tizzle
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 11:18 PM) I agree. I just saw it and thought it was good, but not quite the classic. Exactly how I feel. It was good, but as bmags and I went back and forth about, there were several items within the film I disliked.
knightni
Etheridge paid someone off. Almost as bad as 3-6 Mafia's fiasco.

bmags
i think the only part of the departed i really hated was the whole "is she pregnant with his baby?" because it really was just kind of tacked on.
Reddy
its not Gene Honda, it's Don LaFontaine, the guy from the Geico commericals as well as every movie trailer ever.

How does an average actor like Forrest Whitaker win an Oscar, yet a legend like Peter O'Toole never does? QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 11:15 PM) Departed was good, but not as good as Goodfellas, Raging Bull, and Casino. Should of won for all 4!!! Agree with you on Raging Bull and Goodfellas over Ordinary People and Dances With Wolves, but I liked Braveheart better than Casino in 1995. RockRaines
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 25, 2007 -> 11:25 PM) Casino should have been titled Goodfellas 2. The Departed was much better than Casino. Raging Bull is Scorsese's best. I disagree, Casino is a great and classic movie, Departed will never be considered a classic. And I think Dances with Wolves was a great movie, I have no problem with it winning the Oscar that year.
