QUOTE(Reddy @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 03:52 PM)
technicalities...

I know it sounds simple, but it really is that simple. Yeah, Konerko's was probably more dramatic because we were behind. That's fair. But I have a hard time calling any HR that didn't actually win us a game the biggest in team history. Of course, Pods was the one who hit it. I'm sure if Dye or Crede had hit the walk-off no one would debate it was the bigger HR.

It doesn't matter who hit it....that grand slam on the 1st pitch after a commercial break was as dramatic a situation as possible.

Agreed. But thanks to Bobby Jenks and Aaron Rowand, the game was still very much in doubt until Pods ended it. And I'm glad we didn't have to trot Bobby out there for the 10th. He looked like he was about to cry once Houston tied it up. I'm not sure he could've held them the rest of the way.

Thornton apparently gave up a few hits and a run.

7-3 Colorado.

Looking ahead to next week, if everything remains the same, we'll probably miss having to face McCarthy. He last pitched March 4th, and will likely go tomorrow. Five days afterwards is March 14th against Milwaukee. Just miss him by one start.

However, if everything remains on a schedule of four days between starts, we'd be slated to face McCarthy on March 25th. A game broadcasted on CSN.

I agree with this. I know I was louder. One minute I'm floating on air because I'm thinking in my head that Konerko's slam is gonna turn out to be the game-winner. The next minute I'm on suicide watch because Jenks blew it in the 9th. I had already used up every bit of emotion I had, good and bad, that I literally had nothing left when Pods hit the walk-off.

Rogowski now PH for Konerko.

Anyone else find it interesting that Rogo is getting so much work in ST? Trade bait perhaps?

Yep, him and Tracey will likely be moved in a minor league deal shortly.

Maybe, but Konerko has also looked ready from Day 1. If I were Guillen, I wouldn't feel the need to push him out for another few usless AB's against Colorado's fringe talent.

im not surprised, hes getting older and has developed into a pretty good firstbasemen, just stuck behind the two goliaths, i could def see him get traded since PK and JT are undercontract for awhile and he would be a nice addition for a team looking for a cheap firstbasemen (nationals? maybe but wat would they trade back?)

Nobody feels like the biggest HR in whitesox history happened in the WS by a bench player in the longest game ever in WS history?

That was amazing aswell. Willie Harris right? :D

If Konerko doesn't hit his, depending on how the rest of the game would have played out, Pods may have never had his chance to be a hero.
