bmags
QUOTE(farmteam @ Dec 18, 2007 -> 07:33 AM) VH1 is debuting their top 100 songs of the 90s this week (at least, I think it's new). Liz Phair was really annoying in her interview. It really seems like she's saying 'f-off' to the fans that made her career for a large part of a decade. The breeders song on there was cool, and the getto boys song. I love these countdowns.

bmags
These are going to be songs that were very pervasive in pop culture as opposed to an actual 100 greatest songs list. It's all fun. You can check your serious music fan card at the door.
The Critic
QUOTE(bmags @ Dec 20, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) These are going to be songs that were very pervasive in pop culture as opposed to an actual 100 greatest songs list. It's all fun. You can check your serious music fan card at the door. Or I can just pass on the 100 Steaming Piles. Which I'll do, because bad music's not fun to me, the Card-Carrying Serious Music Fan.
bmags
i'm just saying I doubt VH1's 100 greatest songs of the 90's is going to be the definitive list.

Les Savy Fav - Let's Stay friends Liars - Liars - as much as I liked drum's not dead, if this record would've sounded slow like that I wouldn't have listened Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam - if i could i would bump my first thread on animal collective. shipps
Iam not sure if this should be in the films thread, but does anyone respect Dewey Cox's music in Walk hard?I thought it was great if you can get past some of the silly lyrics. The music is what made the movie because except for a couple parts it wasnt that funny. Gregory Pratt
Yo La Tengo is good. "I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass" is a fun album.
Felix
I don't really know if its been said in here yet (I assume it has since its been released for awhile), but I'm enjoying the new Cake CD. There are some songs that I'm less than thrilled about, but the inclusion of War Pigs (twice!) and Mahna, Mahna more than make up for them. Also, the acoustic version of Disposable Heroes rules. I disagree about any of it "ruling", but it's nice that they played for charity. In my opinion, no band has fallen further from their height than Metallica, with the possible exception of the Goo Goo Dolls and Aerosmith. Not in terms of popularity or sales, but in terms of my enjoyment of what they do. Metallica was my favorite band by a long shot (bad pun intended ), but that seems like forever ago now. I still listen to their old CDs Critic. I'm not into alot of these newer bands these days. But I know what your saying. They're still awesome though. Oh yea, Lupe Fiasco is the s***. That is all. (though I would say that no matter what they played it would be crap material...Metallica has always sucked)

But I know what your saying. They're still awesome though. Oh yea, Lupe Fiasco is the s***. That is all. I hear ya - I still have a lot of pre-Black Album Metallica on the iPod, and when the shuffle hits it, I like to hear that stuff again. I don't go seeking it out, though. You couldn't pry their cassettes out of the boombox back in the Mullet Era, but now their CDs have 3 inches of dust on them. I don't know Lupe Fiasco, so I can't say if he (or she, or they) is THE s***, or just s***.
