What is wrong with you is that you think it is shameful to listen to Rush.

I do!!

Saw them a couple weeks ago (a friend had a free ticket) and they were GREAT!! All new stuff - but it was really enjoyable.

I'm lening to their greatest hits and I feel like I don't want any of my music friends to know that I'm listening to them again. They have a song about Trees arguing about rights!

I guess the VH1 news conference for Van Halen was last night and the tour kicks off next month. Obviously this is still not to be believed until the first note is struck. So, what do you think, have they just been laying low and rehearsing for the past few months, or are they just going to "wing it"? One month from now doesn't seem like a whole heck of a lot of time to launch this thing.

No it doesn't seem like much time, and I'd bet they have not been rehearsing a whole lot so far. To hear David talk about it they are trying to make it sound like this is more than a one-off cash-grab reunion thing, but I think they are too volitile to keep it together for very long honestly.

So what's the deal with Eddie's kid over Michael Anthony? Is there really an estrangement there, or is this merely a decision by Eddie?

They claim that have been rehearsing together for the past 4 months. I think that MA's voice - as small a contribution as it seemed - will be greatly missed. I also don't quite understand all the slobbering all over Wolfie when no one but his parents, uncle, and DLR have heard him play and sing. Should be interesting... IF they don't bust up before the NC concert.

Huge estrangement there. MA got screwed because he continued his friendship with SH. EVH isn't even shy about saying so either. It's very sad.

Seeing as Hagar the Tequilla Night Club King can now buy and sell the lot of them several times over, Maybe Michael Anthony was wise not to burn that bridge. :P

I totally agree about MA's voice - VASTLY UNDERRATED.

I have no idea about DLR, but thanks to Valerie, Eddie is a gazzionaire. He is so lucky she stuck around with him or he would have surely blown his wad long ago.

Both Anthony and Hagar admit that they have no real problems with Roth and that if this band fails again it will be Eddie and not Roth. They both say you know what you get with Roth, and that's just an arrogant ass. But with Eddie you get an unpredictable psychopath.

Did you hear about this controversy over the Van Halen website where they removed Michael Anthony from the VH 1 and Women & Children first album cover? Can you believe that s***?

I guess they put the originals back after a huge uproar. How unclassy is that though?

Unreal.

In case you haven't read it, this is from Rolling Stone:

Over the past twenty-four hours, Van Halen fans have been mulling over the latest development in the band’s reunion saga: A poster on a music-industry message board pointed out that in the wake of the band’s tour announcement, the Van Halens seemed to have airbrushed original bassist Michael Anthony out of older album covers on their official Web site and replaced him with their newest member: Eddie Van Halen’s son, Wolfgang. The swap was evident on the lower right of the cover of the band’s self-titled debut (which came out thirteen years before Wolfgang was born), and the group shot for Women and Children First had been removed entirely.

A visit to the tour section of Van Halen’s site today reveals that the album covers in question have been replaced with the original artwork. However, another message board commenter pointed out there were no images of David Lee Roth in 2004’s career-spanning The Best of Both Worlds, as the frontman and Eddie Van Halen were on the outs during that time. (The pair made a point of embracing at Monday’s reunion tour press conference to demonstrate all is well). As of now, the band hasn’t issued any statements regarding the artwork incident.

I dont care if the song is good or not, this video is cool

Shot backwards

Shot backwards? Or played backwards?

David Lynch shot part of an episode of 'Twin Peaks' backwards. If I understand it correctly, the actors were saying their words backwards too. Then he played everything forward and everyone was moving and talking strangely.

I don't think that's what is going on in this video.

I've confused myself.

Im confused too. If they are saying the words backwards, and all of the actions they are doing in reverse, isnt the video shot backwards and also played in reverse?

What do you mean by shot backwards? If you mean they start shooting the action at the end and work their way to the beginning, then I think that's true.

I think it means they play the track backwards for the band, have them mime the song as they hear it (backwards), then play the tape backwards to feature the song the correct way, with the video track running in reverse.

I've seen that technique used in videos before, it's okay.

Are you sure? That sounds like an awful lot of work.
