I've been hitting the best 90s hip-hop the past couple months -- Wutang, Old Dirty Bastard, GZA and Notorious, mainly.

On a completely separate note, I think I'm going to buy an NWA poster at our annual poster sale today. My friend who went earlier told me they have one -- it best not be taken yet.

Ready to Die and the Wu albums never get played out.

Has anyone heard the new Vampire Weekend album? The two songs I've heard thus far have been wonderful.

Also diggin Datarock a lot lately.

I'm about halfway through Vampire Weekend, it sounds pretty cool.

Also, anyone else really excited for that Okkervil River/New Pornographers tour?

I wanted to not like them because of their snobby, prepy, hipster Cape Cod look but they are awesome.Really diggin the drumbs and the violin thats on a couple of songs.First album I would give four stars this year.

Will Oldham / Bonnie Prince Billie / Superwolf rocks. My favorite song:

Only someone running would run right into me

Unless that someone was someone free like me

There are things I will not do

I will even be mean and cruel

And I will not stay with you

unless you give me all of yourself

When I was a sandy blue

and friendship dwelled in western true

Smokin pill and lovely too

That was before you gave a view

We'll make a future dream be ours

Through your eyes I swallow flowers

and disdain the winter showers

choosing then to bathe in you

And I sing evil, I sing good

I sing as a seagull should

And if you melted then I would

melt myself all into you

Can you love the one that God does?

Can you love the lily of the field?

Can you tend the soil inside of her

till all has been revealed?

[whistles verse]

And I sing evil, I sing good

I sing as a seagull should

And if you melted then I would

melt myself all into you

Can you love the one that God does (can you love the one that God does)?

Can you love the lily of the field (can you love the lily of the field)?

Can you tend the soil inside of her (can you tend the soil inside her)

till all has been revealed?

Kind of decided I like them. And the CD is priced right too at 12 bux.

The Mars Volta new album has a few moments of greatness in it(like most of their albums),but at this point I find it unlistenable. There is just too much going on in every song. They do so much with his voice there isnt much voice left.It honestly made me nervous to listen to it 1 time through.I guess if I was on drugs it would be alot more tolerable.

Purported VEISHEA Acts (free concerts at Iowa State)

Eve 6

Blessid Union of Souls

Big & Rich

Flo Rida

The last two are questionable at this time. The 90s want those first two bands back. I might see B&R, Flo Rida would be a must....;)

In case anybody here would be interested, I've launched a website to go with my print fanzine.

The website is:

SONIC RUIN HOMEPAGE

Click on the "Issues" tab and that will take you to a page that shows the issues I have done. Click on the issue and you can read the reviews that appeared in them. Eventually, starting with issue 4, there will also be a partial version of the print 'zine on site. Reviews will only be on the website though.

Did Soxtalk start allowing blatant spammers all of a sudden????

If we don't nip this stuff in the bud, this place could become Metal Sludge with all the pornbots!!!

:P :D

Scott Weiland is back in rehab.

I have to say I am surprised he is still alive. Maybe he is our generations Keith Richards, you know he is totally wasted and should probably be dead, but somehow he keeps going.

I loved everything STP until their last album, but I am not a fan of VR.
