shipps
Even though Brighteyes Cassadaga album wasnt very good you still have to appreciate his songwriting ability. There really isnt anyone of our generation that is as poetic as he is in his songs.I wonder how Bob Dylan fans view him? Felix
I'll be at Zappa Plays Zappa again in August (saw it last October as well). I figure if I average one ZPZ show a year (assuming they keep touring, which looks probable), I'll be in good shape to make up for not being alive during Zappa's years
Chisoxfn
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 23, 2007 -> 10:28 AM) "Lazy Eye" by Silversun Pick Ups. Go on their myspace for a listen. I know nothing else about this band except that this song is Pumpkin-esque. I thought IT was the new Billy Corgan experience. Silversun is pretty good

BobDylan
QUOTE(maggliopipe @ May 23, 2007 -> 04:39 PM) Alligator has gotten more play on my ipod than anything since summer of '05. I thought it would be one of those albums that gets a lot of play and then I'd tire of it but that's just not the case. Boxer is a nice follow up; I'm happy with it. Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers deserves mention too as it's also pretty top notch but I can't get into their self-titled debut. I'd love to see these guys live. I know they were touring with Clap Your Hands last summer or the summer before and The National were headlining. I heard after CYHSY! played, half the audience would leave before The National took the stage which is sad since CYHSY! blows. I see they're playing June 07 at Metro, god I'd kill to see that show. Unfortunately they're not coming my way. Boxer is going to kill my stereo. I haven't been taken so much by an album since Funeral from The Arcade Fire. (Except now I remember Illinois by Sufjan Stevens.) And I agree Clap Your Hands Say Yeah suck. On another note: Why is it that electronica is the only genre that continuously churns out decent-good albums? I'm so f***ing sick of that genre. And is Radiohead dead? I mean, what the hell is going on with their 7th LP? Wasn't it supposed to be out in the summer of LAST YEAR? It better be the best f***ing folk rock album ever made at this point. (At least I hope it's a folk rock album.) And if you have the chance to listen to Majesty Snowbird by Sufjan Stevens, give it a listen. It's a beautifully composed song and I think the end of it might give some insight into Stevens' next sound. BobDylan
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 10, 2007 -> 09:43 PM) WhiteStripes album comes out this week. Already have it. That band is dead, but I think Icky Thump is a better effort than their last two. Elephant and Get Behind Me Satan were pretty bad. Still, never will there be a worse effort than Coldplay's X & Y. I'm still scarred from listening to that... Edited June 11, 2007 by BobDylan
shipps
After hearing a few of you guys on the board with high praises of The National I went out and bought Boxer and it really is great. But it is a "mood" type of album the lead singer is kinda like the Eeyore of rock.A masterpiece nonetheless. GoRowand33
"Challengers" the New Pornographers upcoming album has leaked I've got it downloaded, but I won't be able to listen to it until later tonight I don't know how many sources there are of this leak, but it was sent to me from my brother, who got it from the ateaseweb.com (a radiohead fansite) message board so if you're interested I would search around there Edited June 12, 2007 by GoRowand33
