Cooper on White Sox Weekly

Not much new most o fthe way through. Said they were working on pitching schedules from now until opening day. Said Danks was throwing well. But that Floyd and Haeger were still in the race for the 5th starters spot.

What was new was the talk of the bullpen when Ronge asked about the race for the final bullpen spots after the 1st 3 back end guys [wanted 7 guys but sounded like he'd get overruled]. Said Masset, Sisco, Logan, Bucvich [sp?] and Haeger were right there for the final spots.

No mention of Aardsma. Don't know much about Bucvich's options. But what are his stats for ST? I'm sure the sox would keep the bullpen pretty stocked in AAA. That way, guys could build up stats and trade value [ala Javier Lopez last yr].

Bukvich is nothing, he's a career scrub and will not be making the team out of spring training. He's pitched well but he's not very good at baseball and there are like 12 better options than his 350 pound ass.

I'm relaying what I heard Cooper say. and that he's in the mix.

I also found it very interesting that Aardsma wasn't mentioned. No mention of Tracey either.

In my opinion, if Charlie isn't going to be in the rotation for the Sox, he will head the rotation for the Knights again.

I am a fan of our bullpen, but never thought I would have to hear the name Boone Logan again... this concerns me.

I remember that Boone Logan game. Ouch. I feel bad for him; I hope he gets a second chance and makes the most of it.

I have a feeling if Logan sticks with the team he will surprise a few around here.

For some reason I think his second time around will be good whether its a call-up or opening day.

Besides Aardsma has some control issues to work on.

FACT: If Tracey ever sees the major leagues again, it will not be in a White Sox uniform.

actually, if you look up the definitions of fact and opinion, you'll find that what you stated is an opinion. sorry.

and I agree anyways

I am an Aardsma fan, think he has some upside, but he has shown no signs that he can get big league hitters out. I suppose Jenks really hasn't either, but he has 100+ quality major league innings to fall back on.

Ronge should have asked Coop why Sisco, Aardsma and especially Floyd haven't experienced a pitching epiphany yet this spring.

Sometimes it takes time. I don't think there were many Thornton fans coming out of spring trianing last year.

I remember that Bukvich was KC's closer once (and was a shrewd acquisition in that year's EA Sports Baseball game :D), but has never really done anything since then.

He shouldn't be in the mix, especially ahead of Aardsma, who at least recently has a record of success at the major league level, which is why the Sox traded for him in the 1st place.

But Aardsma needs more outings like he had today if he wants to make this pen.

And it saddens me a bit, that we didn't sign a lefty reliever in the off-season, although there weren't many good ones available this off-season.

Hopefully if Logan gets a chance, he can run with it this time.

Both Sisco and Logan are better than any lefty bullpen arms the sox could have paid far too many millions of dollars to.

Sisco has thrown decent this spring

If I had my choice, I'd go north with Logan, Haegar, Floyd, MacDougal, Thornton and Jenks in the 'pen.

Lots of inexperience maybe, but gives us 2 longish guys in Haegar and Floyd, and some heat at the back end.

Put Aardsma and Sisco in AAA to harness their control a bit.

I'd probably take Masset over Floyd and let Floyd work things out starting in AAA.
