Jimbo's Drinker
Big 10 is going to be a powerhouse, Weber better get some better recruits and fast...LOL, i know this has nothing to do with the illini. now only northwestern and penn state will be the whipping boys. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) wouldnt he rather go to michigan? Minny may be paying more?? Beline to Michigan..Huginns to WVU(his alma mater) the question is where does the SIU coach go, especially after beating my jayhawks tonight. southsider2k5
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 02:33 PM) No way Huggins will leave KSU after the incoming class he has. And I really don't think anyone else wants that kind of baggage at a bigger school.
RockRaines
QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) wouldnt he rather go to michigan? Why? Reports says he's getting 1.8 million. Pretty good bargain there, less than Thad
greasywheels121
Wow, that's a great hire. Congrats Felix.

Felix
I had heard Sean Miller from sources on the team.. but I guess I'll be fine with Tubby Smith. Miller is probably more interested in Michigan's job anyway. Tubby Smith though? Hell, this makes my life as a Gopher basketball fan pretty damn good! Jimbo's Drinker
Calipari to leave before team gets knocked out. Makes you wonder what Derrick rose is thinking.
Buehrle>Wood
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 07:56 PM) Calipari to leave before team gets knocked out. Makes you wonder what Derrick rose is thinking. I doubt it is Calipari. But UK has basically any coach in the country for their choosing. Beilein, Crean, and Gillepsie are some of the obvious choices. fathom
I look for Donovan to be the next Kentucky coach. It would be the perfect time for him to leave, with his studs leaving for the NBA after this season.
whitesoxfan101
Congrats Felix, Tubby is a really good coach and he'll do a great job up there. I for some reason thought Billy Gillespie when I heard UK is open now though. I'm not sure why John Cal would leave Memphis, that situation is absolute glory for him. Beilein, Crean, and Gillepsie are some of the obvious choices. i dunno. i'm not sure beilein or crean are big enough candidates for them. beilein didn't make the tournament and crean was a first round exit. make no mistake, they will aim big with this hire. i could see calipari, donovan, gillespie, and maybe others on the list. i always thought matta would be their next coach, but i just don't think the timing is right now. It would be the perfect time for him to leave, with his studs leaving for the NBA after this season. He's taking a paycut if he leaves. UF has more money to offer, and they'll offer it indeed. And he lost quite a few players, including a couple to the NBA, after the 2004-2005 season and that went well.... If Matta leaves tOSU for Kentucky, he's a complete idiot BTW. No reason to do that at all. He can get any player he wants at tOSU, their facilities and fan support are 2nd to none, and their fans aren't even nearly as crazy as UK ones. Jimbo's Drinker
How about Kentucky takes Self,Kansas take Weber and Illinois take SIU's coach. wouldn't that be funny again.
Felix
So... I'm not the most knowledgeful about Tubby Smith as a coach, but I know his track record in terms of success. Can anyone give me details about his preferred style of play? Or recruiting ability? You know, the good stuff that makes me get excited for next year. There is not a higher paid coaching position than UK's. In fact, no one is even close. Their new coach will probably make in the neighborhood of an unheard of 3 mil. whitesoxfan101
He's a really good defensive coach, so he'll fit in in the Big 10. He's not a great recruiter by UK standards, but he'll have no problem getting good enough players to get you guys good again.

That being said there is some kick ass talent in Minnesota every year.
