CWSOX45
Omar Minaya has confirmed that he will fly to Texas this week and try to convince Juan Gonzalez to accept the trade to Montreal, so here's my question. The Rangers are giving up Gonzalez and are only getting two prospects that aren't even considered top notch prospects. So if they were to deal Raffy Palmeiro what would it take to get him? If the Sox were to acquire Raffy I'd be guessing we'd have to part with Rauch and a couple other pitching prospects. CWSOX45

Our farm system isn't weak, it's not the strongest in the league either. Imagine Palmeiro in our line-up, he'd be perfect. As he would in most line-ups. Oh well it won't happen, but I just love dreaming about it. CWSOX45
southsider2k5
Palmerio has really deteriorated. Unless he was a one year giveaway kind of thing, I wouldn't really want him.
Steff
He said no way to the trade. He isn't going anywhere.

Exactly, that's what I mean. He's only hitting .261 this year, and in my opinion he could be pretty cheap. Most guys start performing better as well if they come to a team that still has some chance of winning the division. CWSOX45

CWSOX45 I don't mean his #'s have deteriorate, I mean his skills have deteriorated. He is a shadow of his former self. And the sad thing is he is still better than Mark Grace

Jim Fainter
He wouldn't cost much. The Rangers want to dump salary, period. They would probably take Daubach for him.
IlliniKrush
Not worth it, not in the situation our franchise is in. We'd be going backwards if we don't win anything this year.
SoxFan1
I would be willing to offer Konerko, Rauch, and another prospect for Raffy!
Texsox
Hell it would be fun if, for nothing less, than all the viagra jokes. Besides we need another 1st baseman / DH candidate. Can't have too many of those. He's not the missing piece of this puzzle but a nice addition. His history indicates he enjoys a change of scenery. His best year with the Orioles was his first and his best year with the Rangers part II was his first. The only team to dump him after his best season was the ScRubs. Texsox
Excellent point. We could use a guy hitting .300+ right now more than a power hitting first baseman.
IlliniKrush
Someone like the Dodgers or Giants would be in need of someone like Raffy
Rex Hudler
The Rangers would like to move Palmiero and I don't think it would cost that much to get him. But I also don't think he fills the needs of the Sox right now.

We need a pesty guy that can get on-base and spark the team.
