GoSox05
1st place. book it.
witesoxfan
it's too hard for me to vote, and I think it should be for everybody else. As s***ty as this team is playing, and as bad as the 1-2 is, this team still has the talent to win 90-100 games, just as it has the lack of talent to lose 85-95 games. elrockinMT
I VOTED FOR 1ST PLACE. But, realistically at this time of year you can only say we will be contenders for the crown.
StrangeSox
I'd like to hope that they'll take second and the WC spot.
BigSqwert
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) I'd like to hope that they'll take second and the WC spot. Likewise. I'd consider that a highly successful regular season.
HeGone33
Kenny Rogers out for the 1st half of the season, puts my vote to 1st place. The stars are already lining up! Edited March 30, 2007 by HeGone33

BobDylan
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 01:16 PM) just as it has the lack of talent to lose 85-95 games. please tell me your joking? It's plausable. The bullpen has all the potential in the world to be an absolute mess, especially if Jenks can't get his s*** together. What's to say any of the starting rotation turns it around? Jim Thome is obviously on the decline, the center fielder is a 4th outfielder, the leadoff hitter is more fragile than glass. They're out (again) a good back up catcher. Does Jermaine Dye have it in him to have another MVP-like season? It's going to be an interesting year. But the first month of the season will answer a lot of questions. HeGone33
Interest fact: During the period between 2000-2006 there have only been 5 teams who have not had a losing season; The Yankees, Red Sox, A's, Cardinals, and White Sox.

Sonik22
I'm still optimistic and i voted for 1st place. I don't think a s***ty spring really means much, but ill be cheering for my team no matter what happens this season! GO SOX!
witesoxfan
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 01:16 PM) just as it has the lack of talent to lose 85-95 games. please tell me your joking? Not at all. Bob Dylan hit on a few of them - there's no guarantee the rotation can put up an ERA below 5, there's no guarantee in the bullpen at all, and the lineup is weak at the top and bottom. Add to it the lack of power on the bench, and this team could be very weak, especially if an injury or two strikes. On the flip side, the rotation has the potential to put up a sub-4.00 ERA, the pen could be the best in the league, and the offense could be top 3. Plain and simple, you can't predict a damn thing right now. This team is all over and unpredictable right now, and if you deny that, then, point blank, you're wrong. WilliamTell
This is hard, I haven't voted yet because I really don't know where this team will finish. This team won't finish in 4th place, but between 1st and 3rd I really don't have a clue. I'm tempted just to vote for 5th just for the heck of it but I won't. I wanna say we'll finish in 2nd but I just don't know.
RME JICO
QUOTE(HeGone33 @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 03:54 PM) Interest fact: During the period between 2000-2006 there have only been 5 teams who have not had a losing season; The Yankees, Red Sox, A's, Cardinals, and White Sox. How about there is only one team with 200 wins since 2005 (including the playoffs). Your Chicago White Sox! Factors - Cleveland's bullpen will be their demise, and CLee and CC are still questionable Minnesota is minus Liriano and need Mauer and Morneau to duplicate 2006 (unlikely) Detroit is already down one starter and their others will regress KC is KC

Nearly their whole team was over or close to the .300 average mark and I don't see that happening again. Plus besides Santana I still don't think they have that great of a starting rotation and they need that bullpen to be just as solid as it was last year. Rowand44
Wite, this team isn't losing 85-95, I can guarantee you that and we wont finish in 4th. Outside of that, who knows...I do believe our division is highly overrated going into this year and I think 91-92ish games will win it and that'd be around my guess for how many games these guys win. Texsox
Smart, unbiased baseball experts could place this team anywhere from 1-4 and have some pretty damn good reasons. It's all in the ifs, and which ifs will fall in place for which team. For me, it's enough to know the team has the talent to win the division, many, many years, I knew before they left Spring Training the season was over. Weather and the other team drove which games I wanted to see. There are question marks on every roster, in every rotation. I think character and desire plays a huge role. I like the character of most of the players on this roster. So, allow me to answer the question this way with the percentage of confidence I have in the team finishing in each place. 5th Place or better 100% 4th Place of better 100% 3rd Place or better 99% 2nd Place or better 80% 1st Place 51% It will be another great baseball season. greg775
Plain and simple, you can't predict a damn thing right now. This team is all over and unpredictable right now, and if you deny that, then, point blank, you're wrong. I agree. There's no way of predicting. I, however, think our starting pitching will bounce back (knock on wood) and I think we do have a pretty good bullpen, assuming MacDougal and Bobby will be the anchors. Our defense should be good if Uribe has another good year in the field. I truly believe Oz will play Ozuna and Anderson against lefties and because of our pitching we will win the division. The lack of a backup catcher is scary. If AJ gets hurt and/or hits .110 vs. lefties, that's not a pleasant thought. It's all about our pitching. I like the fact we have two lefty starters. Just make a freakin' prediction. It aint all that hard. Put a lil dot in a freakin circle. I say second. More pluses will show up than minuses. Wether we get the wild card or not...hmmm I'd have to say no.
