Dick Allen
I like this better than Altman. I like this better than Alford. I like this better than Majerus. Nice hire by Balta. Supposedly they offered Stallings the job but he said no. Edited April 3, 2007 by Dick Allen
shaneomacfan
Agreed, this appears to be a very solid hire. I'll be interested to see how the assistants shake out because we obviously need some recruiting help. Does anyone know if this guy has a possible connection to Hamga? I'm cautiously optimistic on this one, but I think we got a good one.
Dick Allen
Yet some Iowa fans will moan about the hiring of the national Coach of the Year.
Rowand44
Very good hire. Congrats Hawkeye fans.
Nokona
After about 5 minutes of thinking... Hell yes. Couldn't ask for more. The Horizon League has had some great coaches come out of it and gotta give it up for a man who knocked off as many big names as he did this year. I can't wait. Heads22
s***. Solid hire. I have to learn to hate the guy. I think he's better than McDermott. Iowa just should avoid Wright State.
danman31
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 08:17 PM) Iowa just should avoid Wright State. Yeah, but maybe they'll beat Drake now or win in Evanston.
whitesoxfan101
He had a 2 player class at Butler coming in that would have been better than just about any classes Alford had. Hopefully for Hawk fans those 2 follow him to the IC. I think it's a really good hire actually.

I'm cautiously optimistic on this one, but I think we got a good one. I was really excited to hear of this hire (thanks for the text heads). He's has connections in the midwest, is a very good coach, and is up and coming and is moving up to a conference that could help him continue to improve his resume. I'm real excited to have him, but more importantly I want to see Hamga and our real good recruiting class in a year come back and hopefully Lickliter will be able to do that. I'd think having the national coach of the year coming in would help a bit.

whitesoxfan101
Actually, I was right. Butler's 2 signees for 2007 from Indiana are ranked higher on rivals (and one is a 4 star) than Iowa's 2 signees from Indiana. Go figure. CWSGuy406
Well, with another job off the table, the chances of Crean going elsewhere decreases, which is good news... I have to wonder who number two is on Kentucky's list. Or, if Donovan DOES go to KU, who's number two on Florida's list. Sorry for straying from the topic, but when can we expect a 'decision' from Donovan?
Felix
The Big Ten is going to be *really* good come a few years. Tubby Smith and now Lickliter for Minnesota and Iowa? Watch out...

Sorry for straying from the topic, but when can we expect a 'decision' from Donovan? I very much doubt Donovan goes to Kentucky, and if he does I think its a mistake in his part. This is all assuming Florida is willing to pay him what he is worth.
