fathom
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) Jim Leyland 06 motivates his team with a strong speech of encouragement. ozzie guilles 07 ehhhhh just fire me, i suck. 3 BeWareTheNewSox 5
s***ty game, mainly disappointed in Thornton not having it. This thread was hilarious though. I wish a lot of you were in the stock market so you could help me make a ton of money. Talk about Sell low buy high. Let things play out. Way too much overanalyzing of every little thing. If a pitcher throws a ball 'send him to AAA!', Iguchi hits a HR 'Ozzie was right, down in the order was great!' Context, and realize there are other factors instead of jerking off to stats all the time. Yes, I'm sure we are done now, and Adam Dunn will hit 300 HRs too, while Gil Meche wins the Cy Young. A lot easier to second guess too. My favorite part was the guy who questions my manhood for not criticizing the team and second guessing in the 2nd inning then offering expert nuggets like 'it's better to put the ball in play than strike out', or the result of an AB or pitch showing if the player 'came to play' or not. At least bring it to the chat so it isn't documented that all these Sox fans look like idiots or 14 year olds that have never watched baseball before when other fans look back at these. Thanks for the entertainment this afternoon.
Greg The Bull Luzinski
I'm really having a lot of trouble blaming our hitting for these losses. 5 and 7 runs are supposed to win ball games, not having you playing catch-up. The starting pitching has been awful. For everybody that is blaming Ozzie for the hittingand saying fire Ozzie, why isn't anybody saying fire Cooper? Our pitching, starting and relief, was not there in the spring and still has not showed up.
BearSox
Oh yeah, I now remember why I hate Podsednik, I can't believe I was at all hoping for a good season out of him. He looked like a bum at the plate, and when he did attempt a steal, he gets thrown out by VICTOR MARTINEZ, but not only that, it was a HIGH THROW as well. How come Erstad, old aging Erstad can steal 2 bases quite easily, but you get gunned out looking like Eduardo Perez running to second? And this offense and hitting coach are complete jokes as well. Especially from the 7th inning on. I especially found it amusing how everyone was swinging for the fences in the ninth innings, trying to pull the ball 1000 miles. Was I the only one to notice that Borowski was just basically throwing junk breaking stuff on the outside part of the plate?
Flash Tizzle
I can't wait until minnesota comes into town. We look absolutely pitiful , and guess what -- tomorrow we're facing the quintessential Sox killer in Jeremy Sowers. It could be a sweep.
bulokis
We need hitters that put the ball in play instead of swinging for the fences. Cleveland has good hitters in their lineup, just trying to hit the ball in play. The sox dont. This is not looking good so far.
ShoeLessRob
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) we scored 7 runs today, 5 on home runs. Quit blaming the offense. Offense sure didn't help in the last two innings did it? I blame the whole team, try to get a single rather then makeing yourself look like fools aiming for the upper deck. Kalapse
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) The Indians offense will be better this year than it was last year, and our pitching is massively overrated. Positive games for Aardsma and Erstad though.....160 more games left in the Pods era. 0-4 with a caught stealing..stay hot! Offensively? Yes, he looked great out there. Defensively? I was incredibly disappointed, he getting poor reads on balls hit at him and that play in the 8th was completely inexcusable, he shouldn't have been playing CF at the time and I'm honestly not all that enthused about watching him play 120+ more games out there. If he can keep up this offensive production though, I won't mind seeing him in the lineup daily. Pods should just be DFA'd. Good riddance.
Greg The Bull Luzinski
QUOTE(zenryan @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) put Erstad in left and Anderson in CF On a related note, how long before Pods is batting above .000?
Allsox
Just a poorly pitched ballgame and a lack of execution by the O (Although, 7 runs scored gives kinda them a pass). And yet, they almost won this game so I'm not too bummed at this point. Borowski's gonna cost the Tribe some games this yr and their starters are average at best so they're not gonna run away with this division. Rowand44
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 04:51 PM) The pitching gave up too many runs. But our situational hitting was horrid today. We get a man on 2nd no outs late in the game. Gooch bunts a popup. And then next two guys are simple quick outs. No runs. 9th inning, We have 2 of our power hitters Ks with a bad physicall damaaged Joe Borowski on the mound. We needed a single, and we got the home run attempts. I heard, but you know what, situational hitting isn't going to mean s*** if we give up 10 runs per game. Trust me, I know we need to get better in certain situations but we need to pitch first. The pitching put us in a hole, but I thought our hitting could get a single late in the game. One single was all we needed.
