Ugh really? I thought it was kinda lame. It's the same mold as the rest of the season, which IMO is no good. Is that storyline even real? Would a studio just drop a movie in the middle of production just because a director and actor are having issues. And really, what director/actor would get the studio head involved? My favorite part of the episode was Drama not being in it. My least favorite was not having E in it.

Next week looks ok. I'm interested to see where they take the story now that they secured another season.

It was also way over budget, and studios have absolutely shut down production on movies like that.

I actually liked the last episode. I think they are going to switch the show to the main drive being running an ad agency and the entourage now is just vinny and all them hanging on to Ari. But I loved that 'the cavalry arrives' moment with Ari last episode and some real tension, minus turtle's s***ty character.

But yeah, you have to remember this was only about a week into shooting, as well.

Great Finale.

It saved the season for me in some respects. The scene where Vince throws the phone was the best acting by any actor on the show, not named Jeremy Piven. Adrien Grenier is usually a little blah, but he rocked that scene.

The scene with turtle and jamie-lynn at the end of the episode was absolutely priceless.

Agreed. Some of the best comedy spots all season, and the ending with Scorsese.

I thought E was going to tell Vince no at the end actually.

Will be interesting to see the boys in New York next summer.

Liked the episode, but would of ended the season with Vince firing E. Would of created a cliffhanger of sorts.

I thought that the writers were going to leave the audience hanging on that note, but I think they made the right choice by settling things up. This season has been such a downer, and so humbling for the crew that if writers had ended the season with Vince firing E... you depress the s*** out of the audience and lose the appeal of the show, that being a group of friends banging chicks and making movies.

I didn't care for the ending at all. Was this supposed to be based on Scorsese "saving" DiCaprio's career with Gangs of New York?

I dunno, to me you build a whole season around one theme - Vince's career is heading south and on the verge of being over. You build a great scene with Vince and E, where basically Vince blames everything on him, you see them separating, perhaps for good. You see E becoming successful on his own, ignoring Vinces calls (basically getting over the situation and cutting himself off from the drama), and then in the last 2 minutes you wrap it all up in a neat bow with a seemingly random call from Ari, a quick flight to LA, and all is forgotten.

This show has never gotten back to a good pace since the first season (where it had none, because it was all about regular dudes getting rich and hanging out with hot women and doing things all guys dream about). These last two seasons have been long stretches of uncertainty followed by 2 minutes of resolution (good or bad). And if their point was to show that things can change suddenly, why not have some dialogue about that? Why not set the audience up for a possible turn of the switch at some point? Instead we're led down this path that Vince's career might be over, E might start something great, Turtle is banging some hot chick, and drama buys a bar (does anyone else wonder why he hasn't been shooting his TV series? And then boom. Career is back on track. I dunno, I just don't buy it, much like I didn't buy Ari turning down the studio job to "be his own boss" followed by two episodes of him having to talk and swindle his partner into accepting a new employee.

I think that's a really fair analysis.

What I will say, in defense of the writers, is that you only have 22-26 minutes to tell the story and ultimately there has to be a point where things get resolved more rapidly in real life. In all likelihood things wouldn't have worked out this way, but I think in order to move the story along and to introduce new elements into available plot lines... you kinda needed to tie things and put vince down a new path. I would say the path they chose was a little too much of a leap for my tastes, it would have been a little more authentic if Vince got a smaller part and perhaps generated some supporting actor Oscar-Buzz, and then made a triumphant return to a leading role in a Scorese film.

I loved it alot. Anyone who has followed this show saw in Season 1 they fought when Eric wanted to be his manager and in Season 2 when E was going to take the job with Terrance because Vince wasn't looking out for the best interests of everyone else. I rather have this ending than wait 8 months for a new season.

Anyone else notice Michael Phelps? It was hilarious.

To put on display his acting chops, or lack thereof... stay in the pool michael.

I am not sure you can judge anyone's acting by two seconds. Granted, he probably isn't a great actor just based on how he talks with the media, he just isn't very exciting or emotional, but he had a two second, barely.

I hate that I have to wait six months at least for a new season. Despite the show maybe slipping a bit this season (I still thought it was great), I miss that show so much when it's not on. Probably going to have to watch all five seasons a couple times until next season.

So I watched the first 11 episodes OnDemand, and the only one I haven't seen is the finale, because they have yet to put it up. I'm hoping they put it up on a week's delay and aren't just forgetting to put it on there. I'm itching to watch the finale.

In all, I've enjoyed this season, and I think it's way better than season 3 was... however, it's nowhere near compared to seasons 1 & 2.

One thing that gets old is what seems to be the writers being scared to have Vince be too successful. I think they are afraid to lose the underdog complex, but at this point it's just turning into a bunch of people screwing their careers over trying to get Vince a role in a movie that he really doesn't deserve. (Dana Gordon, Ari Gold, even Eric with a promising prospect in Bow Wow). The transition from Vince being a goofup laying on a beach drinking with Turtle to now where all he cares about is his movie career as a serious actor was just too quick and too unbelievable though.
