fathom
QUOTE(G&T @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 07:14 PM) Especially since he's been off today. Our hitters psyche themselves out against Santana. A perfect example was Dye's AB in the first inning. I don't know what he was looking for.
Chisoxfn
Who cares. As much as I hate to say it this game wasn't about getting the win, its about letting Danks get out there have some success and obviously he'll have some trouble and after the game Coop and AJ will sit down with him and help teach him some things and continue to work on his approach. The kid was making his debut against the best pitcher in baseball.
WHarris1
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) Well, if Erstad struggles against LHP, maybe Anderson will get a start this year. I have a question. Why the f*** was Anderson not in to play CF in the 9th yesterday? Why have him on the team if you aren't gonna use him as a defensive replacement at the very least. Capn12
One of the 2 teams in the ballpark makes adjustments the 2nd time around against a pitcher, one doesn't(I'm looking at you, hook em long Thome).

Obviously, Danks has to fine-tune his control. However, his stuff seems to be decent. I'd say it's 60/40 that he can be on the team this full season. Chisoxfn
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 12:14 PM) It's going to be a long year if Santana makes us his b**** again. Its not like he didn't do the same when the Sox won the world series. Who gives a s***, you just take try to pick up a win against him or hold it tight till it gets to the pen once or twice this season. The Sox see him too much and Johan is flat in these guys heads. The club has almost no shot against him.

I would have rather Anderson been in the minors if he was going to be used the way he is, and Perez makes the team. I wonder if Thome will hit over .150 vs LHP this year? WHarris1
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 02:18 PM) Come on, Sox, pick up John. Srsly. I'm sick of tipping our f***ing cap to Johan. Our division is too damn good for us to just give away games every time we face him.

I agree, there is obviously the chance that he just flat out doesn't have the command yet for this level. He seems to have the approach which is a positive and I think it also is valid to note that every time he went to a new level he tended to have an adjustment period (which should be expected) and it should definitely be expected when we are talking about him coming up to the majors for the first time. Overall I'm real excited to have him in the system and on the staff although its still too early to pencil him into the rotation for the next 5-10 years. Not against Johan...I have zero problem moving guys into scoring position when a guy gets on just for the sheer hope you can put together another hit and get a run someway/somehow. Rogers is out for a long time, so there goes part of the trifecta that we didn't beat more than once all of last year.

Santana doesn't count any in rule of managing. Someone should have flooded the field today so it was postponed. I've said this for 4 years now, but Santana is the only pitcher we face who I expect to beat us.
