I think you have to start the inning now to be considered a save..i.m sure someone will post the new rule.

You would have to face enough batters to enable a "tie"/blown save situation.

1 out + no runners on base = having to face 2 batters (down by 3, even if those two homer, you win).

1 out + 1 man on base = face 2 batters with 1 on = save, because the TIE is enabled.

Not sure if you'll understand what I'm saying...but I tried. :D

For a save the pitcher has to fulfill at least one of the following three conditions:

He comes into the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one full inning.

He comes into the game with the potential tying run either on base, at bat, or on deck.

He pitches for at least three innings after entering the game with a lead.

Funny how much this place revolves around the play of Podsednik.

One thing that is quite obvious though: When Podsednik is playing well, this team wins at a very high clip. Keep it up Scottie, and be aggressive!

As some others have said, you gotta be stoked about these power arms in the bullpen. It's really clicking right now.

One thing that looks blatantly obvious: Dye is really out of sorts. I don't doubt that he'll get his timing back, but his agility in the field really worries me. If I were his agent, I would really be telling him to start practicing first base before games. I want NO part of signing this guy to a lucrative extension.

They mentioned during the broadcast that this is no longer the case and why Jenks didn't get the save opportunity.

hmm it still lists that in MLB's rules.

Bobby didn't get the save cause he didn't meet any of the criteria? I didn't see the whole game, but from what I read nobody ever got on base in the 9th so the tying run was never on deck.
