Anyone catch "The Show" on INHD? About the D'Backs, but a lot of Chris Young stuff in Tucson then making it to the majors. Good stuff.

It's on every Wed at 9 I believe. I've recorded all (5?) weeks thus far. It's quite entertaining.

After playing volleyball at the beach all day yesterday we walked over to Chipotle on Rush Street. Jerry Reinsdorf walked past us. Was kind of cool.

Did he kick your dog or smother your baby?

I think trading Jenks would be a good move. Not based on the fiasco tonight. Just becuase his stuff is steadily declining, the Sox won't compete in the next 3 years, and he would fetch a bunch in trade. Keeping him around serves no purpose.

Jenks is not one of the best closers in the game, as some people on this board think. His ERA last year was 4.00 (not good for a closer), this year 3.21(not bad, but not very good for a closer).

Actually, I would say that Bobby is one of the best "closers" in the game. You put him in a save situation and for the most part he gets it done. Kal, you're usually all over this stuff so where does his save percentage rank the last 2 seasons compared to others?

So it doesn't matter when he comes into a tie game and blows the lead?

What about ERA? I would love to know Bobby's ERA when he came into a tie game during that time period. If you go just by save % Joe Borowski is considered a top closer.

I would love to know Bobby's ERA when he comes into a tie game.

Last season, pre ASB he entered a tied game 5 times and all 5 times he held the opponent scoreless. Post ASB however he entered 2 tie games and allowed 2 runs in 1 of them and 1 run in the other.

This season he's entered tied games 4 times, he held the opponent scoreless in the first 2 but gave up a run in one of the games of the Astros series and again in the Cubs series.

In '05 he entered 5 tie games and gave up a run only once.

So he's held the opponent scoreless in 11 of the 16 tied games he's entered over the course of his career.

And for comparison's sake Francisco Rodriguez entered 10 tied games last year and held the opponent scoreless in 7 of them. This season he's 2 for 4 (same as Bobby). So K-Rod is 9 for 14 over the past two seasons.

Past 2 seasons:

Jenks: 7 for 11 = 63.64%

K-Rod: 9 for 14 = 64.29%

you'll be sorry. After tonight, Jenks has allowed a total of 5 extra-base hit in his career with the game tied.

2 doubles in '05, 3 two baggers in '06 and no X-base hits this year.

held the lead in a tie game? :P

Haha, good catch. Fixed.

It depends on what your definition of "top" is. Ranking 13th out of 19 sounds pretty damn mediocre to me. He's in the bottom 40 percentile.

Royce Ring was dealing in AAA for San Diego this season and got called up a couple weeks ago, and has been very, very good...

Was Robby Alomar worth it?

Shouldn't've ever come to that. Should've taken Blanton...

Well, I was a Ring fan, but I didn't know much about anything back in the day (not like I do now either). It woulda been nice if we got Hamels, who was taken 1 pick before us, but knowing this organization, they would have passed on Hamels anyway.

Uh, yeah. The Sox were like the 2nd best team in the majors in the 2nd half of that year; Minnesota was the best, and the Sox were bad enough in the first half that 86 wins wasnt doing anything at all, but they were close as hell to winning that division. Considering all they gave up is a LOOGY or setup guy or whatever San Diego is going to use him as who hasn't become a big part of a bullpen until nearly 4 years later, yeah it was worth it.
