Uh, yeah. The Sox were like the 2nd best team in the majors in the 2nd half of that year; Minnesota was the best, and the Sox were bad enough in the first half that 86 wins wasnt doing anything at all, but they were close as hell to winning that division. Considering all they gave up is a LOOGY or setup guy or whatever San Diego is going to use him as who hasn't become a big part of a bullpen until nearly 4 years later, yeah it was worth it.

Like I said, I was young and didn't know much about anything :)

A friend of Hawk Harrelson's plays golf at a course where my dad works and they always talk Sox. He told my dad that Ozzie wants his son, who the Sox just drafted, to be called up already and play SS....seriously.

I wouldn't be surprised.

hey, maybe that means Ozzie is finally sick of Uribe and he won't be a "Sock" much longer...

You know that slow motion Dye commercial with all the stats?

I'm starting to think it's in real speed.

I just want him gone... DFA him for all I care. No team is going to sign him next year if we offer him Arbitration.

So Joakim Noah was at the Sox game tonight sporting the AJ jersey... Its so a preview of things to come.

His quotes about giving 150% on everything, no matter what sounded just like the character from Bedazzled.

I was watching the Dodgers and Braves game tonight, it got me thinking, where's our James Loney, Matt Kemp, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Yunel Escobar, etc. With that being said, I am very depressed right now.

Hey, at least we signed/are going to sign some big time latino talent! oh wait...

:crying

with a trade maybe one or more could be ours! But you're right, the dodgers are LOADED with young talent.

On another note, Sox starters are having a great season.

I know this is from frustration, but I am glad your are not the GM or we could be in for a real long look at the cellar. :D

This season, Dye hasn't offered anything Terrero doesn't. We'd be out of our head if we thought we could get anything worth while for Dye. I doubt he bats over .200 this season. And if we offer him arb in the offseason, no team will sign him because the draft picks wouldn't be worth it. Oh, and I love all that hustle he has. Either he still can't run and is injured, or he is just a lazy bum.

Our best hope would be able to package him with maybe Buehrle to the Dodgers or something.

The Everett article was interesting for a couple of reasons... Ben Davis is still playing? Wow, who knew? Second, if Danny Graves can get into the low 90's again, he could help out a major league club in the pen.

Danny Graves sucks. He was throwing that "hard" in the Indians camp last year.

Just random thoughts about our bad baseball team after tonight's game:

1. Toby Hall is an awful catcher... I know his shoulder is injured, and I know he had a pitcher on the mound who couldn't hold a old timer on, but from his fielding of bunts, to his attempts at throwing...Yuck.

2. Josh Fields is looking better and better as our future LFer every day.

3. I hope we never see Aardsma in a Sox Uniform again.

4. Please resign Mark now... so we can move on.

Que?

Even if Fields only becomes an average defender at third, moving him to LF significantly decreases his value. His bat projects to be above average for a third baseman, but if you put him in LF, he's more of an average player.

Josh Fields will not be moved to the outfield. If the White Sox had any plans of moving Fields to the outfield, don't you think they would have had him this season?

Yeah, he made an error tonight, but he is still learning the position. He has good range and a very good arm. He just needs to improve on his glove work. He has potential to be as good as Crede is/was at 3B.

Fields future is an everyday LF'er and sub for Crede. Joe needs to be resigned.

I don't understand how you can continue to say this when NOBODY knows if Joe will even be capable of playing competitive baseball ever again after his operation.

Right now there's still a 50/50 chance that Crede gets non-tendered going into the '08 season. IMO

I think there's a reason why Fields has been playing at 3B exclusively. They haven't even tried him in the outfield recently, he's the future at 3B.

I don't get what some of you guys are saying. Fields is no Crede defensively but he's already pretty good over there for a young player and has really gotten better every year. I would be surprised if he didn't develop into an above average defensive 3rd baseman (and for those that have followed my take on Fields....this is a big time change from what I said about him a couple of years ago).

The guy just has a phenomenal work ethic and will be a very good major league 3rd baseman.

Sure, when he proves he's fine from the surgery and gives a big price break for being out nearly the entire season. He was miserable in the second half of last year and was off to a bad start at the plate in '07. Back better be good. :drink

That's just a flat out lie. Crede put up an .809 OPS as the White Sox 7th hitter in the 2nd half last year. That's very good.

However, he was absolutely terrible in September, putting up a .546 OPS. That's probably what you are remembering.

.222/.270/.366/.636 from August 12th to the end of the season.

.219/.264/.341/.605 In his last 89 games played.
