Sports Talk Hosts, Whatcha Looking For

I used to love to listen to the Tony Bruno Morning Show Extravaganza when it was on Fox Radio back in the day. Tony has this infectious laugh that would make me start laughing even if it wasnt funny, but most of the time Tony was really funny. Tony made Andrew Siciliano (his sidekick at the time, who ended up taking over the show) tolerable, which is downright amazing.

 

There are some really good Sports talk hosts out there who can blend humor, friendly banter, and opinions without seeming over the top. Very few of these guys, if any, are with ESPN. ESPN just seems focused on having their Eric Cassillias and Colin Cowherds throw out counterproductive statements intended to rile up listeners, instead of making them think and respond. I do like Mac, Jurko and Harry, but they seem to be an exception to the ESPN rule.

Whenever a thread about radio sports guys come up I always have to add, Kevin Wheeler was the best ever, im still sad he is gone and the guy that took the overnight shift is the worse ever on 670.

 

Wheeler was awesome, it's too bad they had to replace him with that Dr. Phil wannabe David Stein.

 

Does anyone know like what he is doing, is he doing radio part time now at all or have any plans in getting back into it. He was a hater, but he sure was enjoyable to listen too, plus he had great callers too. I miss the dave in mississipi conversations.

 

Last I heard he was working in St. Louis. I thought it was a couple of nights a week or something.
