Batting for Tom Paciorek in the eighth, Hairston delivered a single that scored Scott Fletcher to give the Sox a 4-3 lead. Hairston passed the great Smoky Burgess on the Sox’s all-time list and finished his Sox career with 87 pinch-hits. . … Also on this day, the White Sox signed relief pitcher Bill Dawley.
