Gregory Pratt
It's not enough the Sox can't seem to beat C.C. Sabathia or Johan Santana but they appear to be adding to a habit that began, near as I can tell, in 2003. That is to be totally flustered by "unknown/mediocre/junkballing/journeymen" (take your pick) pitchers. Chad Gaudin is the latest example. Are the advanced scouts simply not doing their jobs or are the Sox hitters simply not following their recommendations ? --Mark Liptak, Chubbuck, Idaho It's a matter of preparation. One Sox coach was baffled that two young players were watching a TV show before Friday's game instead of watching tape of Fausto Carmona and some Tribe hitters. Greg Walker and Mike Gellinger prepare the hitters with plenty of information on pitchers. I was surprised last year when they had tape of left-handed rookie J.P. Howell, then of Kansas City. Remember when Kirk Saarloos harnessed them for about six innings? I don't think it's Bryan Little's fault. Other scouts tell me Bryan works hard and digs for information. Seems like a pitcher and hitter.
Kalapse
Well we know for sure that one of them is Brian Anderson.
Gregory Pratt
I'm sure he was working hard.
greg775
Well we know for sure that one of them is Brian Anderson. Exactly. Why don't they just send him down if they hate him so much. I'm finally getting sick of the BA saga. OK ... he's a woos or a prima donna and doesn't care. Get rid of him and let's move on. And get rid of Erstad too while they are at it. Play the younguns in the minors. Bring em up. Edited April 16, 2007 by greg775
Balta1701
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 06:54 PM) Well we know for sure that one of them is Brian Anderson. It's not like he was going to be playing anyway. Anyway, wonder if it could have been anyone else. Are Crede or Uribe still considered young? QUOTE(greg775 @ Apr 15, 2007 -> 07:03 PM) Play the younguns in the minors. Bring em up. I agree. Play the best younggun CF we've got...Brian Anderson
Gregory Pratt
I really think it was a pitcher and a hitter. Is McCarthy still around?
sircaffey
They probably weren't going to play anyways. Oz wasn't on suspension or anything right?
witesoxfan
it was opposite day, they actually meant Thome and Contreras

Heads22
It could've been Molina. Gustavo does what he wants.
Gregory Pratt
Come to think of it, BA/Molina sounds right. Maybe Sisco. It wouldn't be the first time he was less than professional (when he came in late to his team's dugout in Mexico with burritos, I believe ). Heads22
Molina and BA are the only guys born in the 80s. Of course, they both play once a week.

Greg The Bull Luzinski
I would be much happier if the article mentioned that other players were actually watching the scouting tapes. The problem mentioned in the article is one of the more frustrating problems with this team that needs to be solved.
