Why can't they just do this by how they finished in conference last year? (ex. 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, etc.)

Not sure, but that wouldn't be the most fair way anyways when factoring players who graduate and incoming recruiting classes.

Exactly. But with all the good coaches coming to the big ten they might be able to get some better recruitng classes and possibly give the ACC a fight.

Well, for starters, stop giving Duke home guys. Haven't they stayed in NC 8 of the 9 years of the event?

2 seasons ago they were at IU. I'm not sure if they have played away any other time.

Only 1 game in the schedule is really nationally appealing, UNC/OSU. Duke vs. IU should be a must each year, IMO.

Why? So Duke can slaughter them every year? I don't see why the perennially 3rd-5th best team in the Big Ten should match up against one of the top two programs in the ACC.

im glad wisconsin is getting a shot at Duke. Even though its an away game they should have a pretty good shot. Its hard to tell how the loss of Tucker and Taylor will impact the team, but if other guys step up the team should be more talented overall. It just wont have the 1 guy who was most relied upon to score.

I'll throw this in here since there is no bball thread, and most big ten fans will see it here:

Per Tupper's blog:

"Three, the Big Ten Conference hasn’t announced it yet, but the league will be going to an 18-game men’s basketball schedule (expanding from 16 games). That means each school will have only one opponent it plays once at home, and only one opponent it plays once on the road. That’s nearly a full round robin. The question: When does Big Ten play begin, in late December or in January as it does now? If it starts in January, it likely means the end of the “bye” week. It also means two less non-conference games."

Should just go to 20 at that point, IMO. This will likely get the Big Ten an extra bid a year if the coaches play their cards right. Also Glad to see the bye weeks over with.
