CubKilla
Hopefully this win lived up to Roman's "high" expectations That's 3 in a row now and a career high in K's for a game.

Spiff
shoulda swept the red sox, shoulda swept the cubs, shoulda swept the twins. but oh well, 8-4 in that stretch is not too shabby. 5 behind the royals, 4.5 behind the twins.

And we should have taken 2 out of 3 against the Giants. The Sox are playing at about 65-70% right now, as opposed to around 30% for the first 2 months of the season. Need to get Wright, Garland, Konerko, and Koch going to get it up to around 90-95%.
Chisoxfn
Still the Sox aren't doing the little things and that is continuing to keep them out of first place and is keeping them from going on a serious run. Until they start doing those things, I will have quite a few doubts. I love the pitching though Now lets beat the Cubs.

Texsox
What would be surprising if Mark wins his next 5 or 6 starts would be that means the bullpen held up and we scored some runs. I have no doubt that Mark could finish with 15 wins.

IlliniKrush
He's baaaaaaaaaack. And if Garland keeps pitching well, i like our chances in this 2nd half with 4 rock solid starters...and who knows about Wright
witesoxfan
You know what's funny. Clu and Jas are right. We are still not playing "hot" though our W-L over the past 20 games may tell you differently. It's kind of weird, because we are doing the opposite thing the Twins have done. The Twins have had some hot hitters, but they are not playing well and are losing, and the Sox have had some cold hitters, but are winning on a consistent basis. I guess this just goes to show what good starting pitching can actually do for you. I'd hate/love to see what happens if we heat up offensively. If Harris gets going, we could still have a lot of fun this summer.
Heads22
Would anyone else like to see one of our starters in AAA (Maybe Rauch...) get some starts up here in place of Wright? I like Danny, but I just cringe when I see him pitch because it always seems like he can not finish the other team off.
Heads22
You know, I don't care how we win, by a little or a lot, because of great pitching, hitting or defense, or any of that. I just want to see the Sox win.

I like Danny, but I just cringe when I see him pitch because it always seems like he can not finish the other team off. I'd actually like to move Danny to the bullpen. He is a hell of a starter when he has good control of his pitches....and I'll go out on a limb here and say that when he has good control of his pitches, he is one of the better starters in the league, or at the very least, a good starter. However, he rarely does. And you can't always tell whether or not he had good control of his pitches by how many walks he issued. That is not necessarily what I am concerned with. I'm more concerned about where he leaves his pitches. When he is wild down, he'll walk a lot of guys. When he is wild up....well, look at what the Angels did to him last year. I said in another thread that addition by subtraction would be a good idea. As soon as we trade/release one of Koch/White-flag/Glover, we move Danny to the pen and use him as a setup man and eventually turn him into a closer. His stuff is too good to be wasted. Yeah I've said all along that Dan Wright could be turned into a rock-solid closer someday. He might even pull an Eric Gagne. I totally agree with your addition by subtraction idea but this team is too dumb to do that. If only we would unload the dumbasses like DLo, Lee, Koch, and build from the ground up, think how good of a team we could be in a few years. I almost wish that we are in the state of the Indians right now. They have so many talented young players and are building from the ground up. They're in the state that they could actually afford to try someone like Wright as their closer.
