Change.... 7 years of suppressing stories until being released at 4PM Friday, when, hopefully, no one is paying attention.

After months of asking her to release her tax info, why shouldn't I be surprised that they decided to do so on late Friday afternoon?

Here is my take. Normally Friday is a good dump day if it's a quick hit story. This one, however, requires research, cross checks, ect. I think by the time all the proper research is done, this will hit hard Monday morning and give it momentum into next week.

We are also in a blog / community journalism culture now. News stories like this have more "average person" research and stories can carry on until the MSM finally picks it up. I knew about the whole Rev. Wright thing about a week before it MSM.

This does take a lot of work. But the problem is...it's work that has to be done over the weekend when people aren't watching, and the fact is, the Bush administration wouldn't do all their document dumps on Friday afternoons if there wasn't something to gain from it.

And on top of that, Saint Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker will be testifying before Congress next week, so there's another element of the fog to get lost in.

Good point. But I think they are Wed or Thursday. So, that gives Monday and Tuesday to Clinton. Could be enough to inflict damage. You never know. You can BET if thee are serious tax shelter connections, Obama will nail her hard.

This could all blow over. it could cost her PA. I can't predict.

FYI: Carl Bernstein just said on CNN that he talked with people in the Clinton campaign and they see the polls closing and that if Obama continues to get closer, they have "significant dirt" on Obama that they say they had hoped the media would have picked up by now. and they will get VERY negative and start slinging the mud if she doesnt start to separate from him in the next week or so.

This needs to end NOW before PA even votes. The DNC can NOT allow Clinton to go scorched earth on Obama just to drag him down in her DISTANT hope of stealing this whole thing.

Seriously, they're saying this and people in the press are still buying it? Do you seriously believe that there's something they're holding back, or that they wouldn't have put some dirt they had on him out there a few weeks back?

There are probably a few things out there that are "controversial" (his meeting with 2 former terrorists in the mid 90s while making the political rounds). It doesnt have to to be significant, all it needs to do is inflict doubt. I reference the Rev Wright issue. Not "major" in the long run, but it wounded him.

I think the point I am trying to make is that they really are going to try and actively tear him down and in the end it might well hurt him significantly in the general election. They are doing this for their own personal gain rathe than "the party" like she has been saying this whole campaign.

More Clinton Tax fall out...

Clinton Tax Returns: One of the "charities" is what ?

The Clintons took a tax deduction in 2004 for $2.5 million in charitable gifts, $2 million of which went to their family foundation, which as a tax-exempt nonprofit is considered a charity under the tax code. That same year, the foundation gave away just $221,000 to charitable groups, according to its tax return.

I'd LOVE to donate money to myself and write it off.

New Rassmussen

In North Carolina, Barack Obama has opened up a twenty-three percentage point lead over Hillary Clinton. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that Obama attracts 56% of the vote while Clinton earns 33%. A month ago, Obama’s lead was just seven percentage points.

While the absolute numbers are different, the trend is similar to results from Pennsylvania where Obama gained ten-points on Clinton during the month of March.

I wouldn't be surprised if, as PA approaches, if the polls are still close, the Clinton campaign scrapes the bottom of the barrel and throws some stuff out there that they were hesitant to before. They'll do it just before the primary, so it hits the press, but before it can be analyzed and taken in by the public.

I'm sure she just misspoke. She's got sleep deprivation.

Clinton Under Fire Over False Story Of Health Care Horror

Here's the thing. She says in her speech that she head the story from a policeman who heard about this woman. So, this is a 2nd or 3rd generation story. It COULD be very well possible that she is simply parroting what he said as fact. OR, it could be that she heard the actual story correctly and simply has "dramatized it". I dunno. Given her track record, probably the latter. But, I am not willing to pass judgment on this until more info is researched.

The sheriff’s deputy, Bryan Holman, had played host to Mrs. Clinton in his home before the Ohio primary. Deputy Holman said in a telephone interview that a conversation about health care led him to relate the story of Ms. Bachtel. He never mentioned the name of the hospital that supposedly turned her away because he did not know it, he said.

Deputy Holman knew Ms. Bachtel’s story only secondhand, having learned it from close relatives of the woman. Ms. Bachtel’s relatives did not return phone calls Friday.

She's done it before, but it ended up backfiring on her in the long run.

she only cares about the short term. If she can drag him down in PA, that gives her a boost into NC (which she wont win) and IN (a tossup). She only cares about PA right now. She has to take it state by state. It's risky, but she WILL do what needs to be done.

Would have been smart to fact check a 2nd hand story before using it as part of your stump speech for 5 weeks.

It's not good make $109 million dollars over 7 years and have ties to an offshore tax shelter when you are campaigning for the "middle and lower class worker"

I'll just throw this out there for giggles... Al Gore got defended here, pretty passionately, for making a lot more money off of his causes before, and no one seemed to think it would impair his ability to be impartial in the green movement, dispite his financial interests in these projects...

You may simply know this better than me, but from my understanding, an awful lot of Al Gore's current wealth derives from having been a very early investor in The Google. A lot of the money that has come from his climate work, including his Nobel Prize money and matching funds from his family for those funds have gone in to the Alliance for Climate Protection campaign they just launched.

For shame Al Gore. The Goracle help start up a corporation which turns over dissident names to the Chinese government, often resulting in execution of the before mentioned dissident. But I think the donated money to Dems, so it's all good. And their motto is something like "do no harm". so it must be true.
