mr_genius
I'm predicting a 5 percentage point win for McCain in South Carolina. Huckabee second.

NorthSideSox72
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) Duncan Hunter is officially dropping out. The only purpose this serves is to pad my post count. I heard on the news he's endorsing Balta1701 for the GOP nomination. He said something to the effect of "if I can't be the nominee, f*** it - bury the party".
NorthSideSox72
McCain with a lead in SC. McCain is currently leading all recent polls in CA, NJ and PA, as well as in national polls, and is winning some FL polls too. So, he seems like the inside track guy now - amazing for a candidate written off for dead in the fall. But one wonders if, with this wide field, he might get bitten by the same thing that might bite Clinton - other candidates stacking the chips against him. McCain may have a lead after Super Tuesday, but he won't be anywhere near 50% most likely - and most of the other candidates don't align well with him. Thompson and McCain do have a relationship, as I recall - so maybe. But they aren't that aligned politically. And I think Huckabee is more likely to endorse Romney. Rex Kickass
Thompson is entirely the reason that McCain won in SC. Thompson sucking out about 20% in a lot of districts that Huckabee is what saved McCain narrowly in SC. Had Thompson dropped out after Michigan, McCain would be drifting to obscurity once again in the Presidential fight.

I would put the chances that Huckabee endorses Romney at 0%. No chance. He doesn't like Romney, he would definitely endorse McCain.

Speaking of which, Thompson gave a "wistful" speech after the SC results, and campaign sources are hinting he is "weighing his options". Prediction: he drops out and endorses McCain. kapkomet
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 20, 2008 -> 04:32 PM) How? Basically, they were on McCain's bus until there was a chance that Huckabee was going to be the ® guy. Then, about Thanksgiving time, he (Huckabee) was the best thing ever (because in reality he was the worst thing ever). As soon as the "new media" absolutely crushed Huckabee and vetted his real stances (he's a f***ing jackass in an elephant's clothing) then all of a sudden McCain is now the glory boy again - for the same reason - he's a jackass in an elephant's clothes. That's also why you see so many left leaning people, even on this board, that would consider voting for him.
Texsox
I always thought the news reflected the attitudes of the people and what is happening. People get excited and start talking about a candidate and the news reflects that. A candidate moving up in the polls is news. A guy dropping down is news. perhaps they should have ignored Huckabee and what he was doing.

You are amazed that to be included with Democrates you have to be liberal? Would you also be amazed to learn to be a Republican you have to be conservative? Come on Kap, that shot just isn't fair. Each party has a set of beliefs and if you aren't in line with a majoriuty of them, you aren't really a member of that party.

I never thought he had a chance. I'm not certain what faction of the GOP he was going to pull in. He could possibly be an interesting Veep choice, but that even seems far fetched. Perhaps a high profile cabinet position with McCain.
