That works, as someone else on the field would need to be replaced by a pitcher. But your original scenario didn't work.

It was a given that Gonzalez would be replaced in RF.

So what? The Sox did their job. Or were they suppose to get shut down by them?

Using runs gotten off the worst bullpen in baseball (including some hilarious unearned ones last night) doesn't make for a very solid argument that the team hitting has turned around.

Every player comes up with the same problems, and nowhere near ready to hit MLB pithcing. Why hasn't this been fixed?

I've already order a restraining jacket for SSI when he has to watch Josh Fields hit.

Durbin has a grand total of three career starts with 6+ IP and 0 runs allowed: 8/10/2004, 7/13/2001, and 7/18/2001

How many have been 7+IP and 0 runs allowed?

We may be witnessing a great sight, here. A career night from Chad Durbin.

I wish this game were broadcasted on Comcast so I could tape the replay.

the July '01 games were back to back 8 innings of shutout baseball.

This is his first time through 7 with 3 or fewer hits though.

Well, no, i was answering your question literally, i had no reason not to. It wasn't a stupid question.

If the DH goes to right, then the RF is replaced by the pitcher.

Then you pinch-hit for the pitcher.
