WhiteSoxfan1986
What's Cassel's stuff like? It's amazing how big of a prospect Valido was two years ago.
Jordan4life_2007
Another nice performance by Carlos Vasquez. I've been following him and Jacob Rasner. For anybody that's seen him (Vasquez), what kind of stuff does he have?
dasox24
QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 04:21 AM) What's Cassel's stuff like? Well, I can't tell you too much about his "stuff" as I haven't seen him in person, but here's what I wrote about him last summer after we drafted him: 7) Justin Cassel – RHP – UC Irvine To continue their early trend, the Sox stuck with pitching in the 7th round going with Justin Cassel, who also happens to be the younger brother of Patriots backup QB Matt Cassel and Padres farmhand Jack Cassel (AAA). Cassel, one of three primary starters for UCI, went 7-9 with a 3.43 ERA on the year. He also pitched a team-high 134 innings (four complete games/one shutout) and struck out 99, while walking only 25. While the 6’2’’ junior won more games (9) as a sophomore, his overall numbers this year were much better due to improving the command of all 3 of his pitches: a fastball, curve, and changeup. This improved command also allowed Cassel to put together efforts like his April 21 outing against UC Santa Barbara, in which he struck out a career high 15 batters in 8 2/3 innings of work, and was named the Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week. On a side note, Sean Tracey, who made his major league debut last week for the White Sox, also played at UC Irvine. DBAHO
Russell really pushing his cause for a callup to Charlotte soon. Problem is, there's a lot of other pitchers like Gio and Jack Egbert all doing the same.
RockRaines
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 05:22 AM) Russell really pushing his cause for a callup to Charlotte soon. Problem is, there's a lot of other pitchers like Gio and Jack Egbert all doing the same. Gio and Russell should be called up to AAA pretty soon. They are both excellent stuff guys who are performing well.
winninguglyin83
Egbert, Gio, Russell, Cassel and McCullough have me feeling better about our farm system.
