BigSqwert
Erstad is the only hitter we have hitting over .250 (not including injured players). Edited April 29, 2007 by BigSqwert

hi8is
if he had erstad steal while mack. was up, he could had advanced to third with his grounder to first... then scored on konerkos pop up.
fathom
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) Erstad is the only hitter we have hitting over .250 (not including injured players. Yet we think calling up a AAA player who is hitting around .250 is going to help us. We need to acquire a new hitter soon, as this lineup has no life in it. caulfield12
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:38 PM) More incredible contributions by our bench players. Ozzie really should try the hit-and-run more with Mackowiak at the plate. AJ's and now Rob's at-bats have not exactly been the highlights of the game in terms of "small ball." OUCH. Those Phoenix NBA jerseys are uglier than the 1983 Sox jerseys or even the Astros' JR Richard jerseys. fathom
QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) if he had erstad steal while mack. was up, he could had advanced to third with his grounder to first... then scored on konerkos pop up. Ozzie would rather have his #4 hitter try to bunt than to have his #2 hitter (who hits a ton of balls on the ground) try to create some offense with the hit-and-run. fathom
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 07:40 PM) Paul will be fine, he's the least of my worries. We need to hope he doesn't have an Aramis Ramirez type of season from last year where he struggled so much at the beginning of the season when Lee was out. He needs to pick it up now, as this offense has struggled for far too long this year.

Unfortunately, he's slumping now, but he's too good of a hitter, he'll get it going soon.

hitlesswonder
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 29, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) Yet we think calling up a AAA player who is hitting around .250 is going to help us. We need to acquire a new hitter soon, as this lineup has no life in it. And that pretty much sums things up. The pitching has been good enough to contend. But the problems with thin lineup are bigger than Thome being out. Crede, Konerko, AJ, Dye, Mack have all performed worse than what I would expect. The problem is that it may not be a slump for some of them -- it may just be who they are at this point (Crede, AJ in particular). The Sox need to make a trade. Flash Tizzle
Buehrle with a consistent velocity below 87mph equals MEAT. He's lived on the outside corner this game because Angel hitters have been able to catch up with the numerous BP fastballs.

Thanks Sweeney, if you're not going to hit, at least hold the runner to first. That's the second time today. Guess they're going to Aardsma. It's a classic case of the desperation, shake things up move...getting someone like Willits from the Angels would probably cost us Haeger and-or Broadway. We're stuck. Maybe Anderson and Haeger/Broadway for Ryan Church. We need to do something. Otherwise, we'll just have to dangle Buehrle out there for the best possible return for 08 and beyond and cross our fingers identify the right player/s to acquire in return. WOW!!!
