Kid Gleason
This was posted on one of the film boards I frequent. It seems Rog is slowly getting back to the world. The man appears to have been to hell and back in the most severe way, but he is turning out to be quite inspirational. Who woulda thunk it? http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/355049,...ebert24.article

RibbieRubarb
I had the pleasure of interns for Mr. Ebert at the Sun-times while in college. A funny, smart and kind man and a great film lover!!
Kyyle23
I feel awful for what has happened to him. The guy gave a new name to "complications after the surgery". He is really lucky to be alive, but I dont know if he views it that way. He has had his jawbone removed, excessive bleeding, a stroke. He has made his living giving his opinion, and now he can barely speak. It is inspirational that he is still alive, but a really unfortunate sequence of events. Kid Gleason
Reading the article, it sounds like he is thrilled to be alive still just so he can still write and watch movies, and be around loved ones. I have a feeling that losing Gene probably opened his eyes to a lot of things. I mean, he probably never really realized how much he cared for the guy until he was about to pass away, so he probably got a new view then. Now with his current situation his views on life have probably intensified that much more. How many people of such high profile would be willing to go in front on the public looking as he does now? I would bet not many unless they had learned the value of just being alive.

Texsox
I didn't realized he was married. I've been gone so long.
Kid Gleason
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 2, 2007 -> 07:13 AM) I didn't realized he was married. I've been gone so long. Thought he had been married for years. Also, in response to Ribbie, I had always heard Ebert was less than "nice". There is no shortage of Gene or him being fairly rude to the public stories. I always took it as they were just regular guys who became famous, but really didn't want all the crap that went with being famous.
