It's true though.....we look terrible against good lefty starters. I wonder if Toby will make us look any better against Santana, C.C., etc.

And guys with good sliders like Cy Guadin. Lets see if Greg can puff his chest out some more in interviews claiming the team is fixed.

We face Shields, Kazmir, Johan, and boof in the next few games. He probably should of waited a week before doing his interviews.

Shields has a .92 WHIP and has a 2.94 ERA with a 3-0 record. Oh and we have never faced him either.

This thread will not go away and neither will the Greg Walker ripfest.

The reason the White Sox will struggle with this lineup is because they can not make a pitcher work. As good as Gaudin may be, there is no way he should have had under 80 pitches through 7 innings. The guy faced 18 batters through 6 innings. They simply do not make a pitcher work. If there isn't a homerun hit, this team will struggle. A pitcher only needs to be near the zone and they will swing. Cintron, Ozuna, Mackowiak, Erstad and to a degree AJ, Uribe and Crede are not pure power hitters. Yet the appraoch that they all have is to swing at everything close. Sometimes it works out but most of the time it doesn't. The ysit on pitches and can get away with it sometimes other times they look stupid. In a two inning span yesterday there were 3 strike-outs, foul out to the catcher, pop up on the infield and 5 hooper to second. Some balls were hit hard early but that passed after the third and did not come back until the 8th.

I think they will hit Boonser and whoever they face Saturday. I would think the thing to do when facing Tampa would be to work the starter and get him out of there to get to the bullpen. The White Sox can not do this at all. A pitcher that is on is guaranteed to go 7 innings. I will use Gaudin, De Los Santos, Colon, Durbin, Elarton, Oldalis Perez as an example. These guys were able to put it cruise control against the White Sox because their appraoch was not good once the starter established himself.

Look at the appraoch Oakland took. They hardly swung early in the count and took a ton of strikes. The White Sox may take strike one but then that is it, time to swing away. Good pitches are not taken for strike two or fouled off with two strikes. They are put in play, usually as a seven hopper or pop up on the infield.

This is not Walker's fault these are the Chicago White Sox and what they all have always been in their careers.

  • 2 weeks later...

We got a leadoff double in the 9th to end that 0 for 61, now we're 1 for our last 65 against bullpens!! That's outstanding, and it's not Walker's fault we couldn't get a guy home from 3rd with 1 out in either the first or last inning to lose by 1 either.

Tyler Clippard? lol.

You don't need to post your negativity you know.

Take up a blog somewhere else or something.

We all realize that the Sox are losing because they aren't hitting and their bullpen can't hold leads.

Juan Uribe's approach at the plate is terrible, and you could see it in that 8th inning at bat he had against Farnsworth. Farns hung three sliders up in the zone, but Uribe's not staying back on the ball at all -- he's just falling forward well before the pitch gets there.

Uribe was at his best in September of 2005 when Hrniak or Frank Thomas were implementing that front leg 'tap' timing system. It allowed him to sit back on the ball and see it further into the zone.

I don't want to try and act like a 'hitting expert' here, either -- believe me, I'm far from that -- but this looks so f***ing obvious to me. Uribe is sapping himself of power with the current way he's swinging the bat. Because he's stepping forward so soon before the ball gets to home plate, any power that he should be transferring from his back leg is sapped. Basically any power he has is coming from his arms, and I don't think that's a good thing.

I'm so glad Greg Walker found it necessary to "fix" things.

well tonight's game against the Yankees was one of the worst offensive performances I've seen in a long time. The last few years the Sox have made a habit of making average pitchers look awesome, but tonight was a new low.

The first 3 pitchers all had eras over 4.00, they were hanging BB and laying hittable FBs all night. It was so bad Hawk and DJ didn't even compliment the opposing pitchers

Then what should people here do when we suck? Talk about how great we'll be when we "wake up"?

Before any more comments like this are made, SC said the Sox were 9-0 against Rookie pitchers this year. I'm shocked by that.

Wow really? Who knew!

I can't even dignify this nonsense article with any more of a response, but I figured this needed it's own thread. Have at it, and remember this is the same man who voted A.J. Pierzynski 10th in MVP last year.
