5 Steps to Win the Division this Season

1. Name the new G.M. (likely to happen after the All Star Game)

2. Trade Colon. He's more harm than good, we don't need him as he is pitching for US now. Get a TON (heh, heh) of talent for him now.

3. Launch Jiminez. Anywhere, minors, Toledo Mud Hens, McDonald's, Village Car wash, doesn't matter, the guy is not helping us. Package him with Colon.

4. Bring up Miles for 2B.

5. Name Valentin team Captain. That would unite the team, the clubhouse especially with those two gone, and spark this team to a great second half. He's not afraid to jump on anyone, including himself, and has all sides of the clubhouse's respect, and would unite. He's the sparkplug, let him fire us up.

That is all we need to do, nothing more. Once on the playoffs, anything can happen, the team that gets 'hot' wins it all. I'll take those chances.

I'm off to the game, answer the critics later.

I hate to be a smart aleck, but all we need to do is finish with more wins than the Royals and the Twins.

If we trade Colon we're likely to finish behind the Indians.

Miles could be a productive number two hitter.  But if Jimenez is gone, who's leading off?

The same person who's been leading off for atleast the past 2 weeks....Willie Harris.

Agreed on everything except Colon. Enough with that s***, hes our ace. IF we get to the playoffs, I like our chances with Colon, Loaiza, Buehrle.

And yes Valentin should be the captain. This guy brings more to the team that anyone could imagine. And get rid of that piece of s*** named Jimenez. Anyone that says Valentin costs us more games than Jimenez is out of their mind.

EDIT: And boy did Valentin prove the point today :headbang

Jose's 10 errors (Furcal and Berroa have 19, Garcippara and Tejada 12 each, Renteria also 10) cost the Sox 4 runs all, which is above average %-wise if not exactly Gold Glove.... Meanwhile Jimenez could have easily matched that in this game alone with his two DP f***ups.

Plus, the play he did make early on was a needlessly risky one--if the ball goes by him, Gruzilanek scores with 2 outs...Where is his head I wonder? He can't do ANYHING NO MORE, hit, run, defend, designated cancer in the clubhouse...wow.

Great post ncorbl.

1. Name the new G.M. (likely to happen after the All Star Game)

--Gosh yes, do it now!! Who is it gonna be??

2. Trade Colon. He's more harm than good, we don't need him as he is pitching for US now. Get a TON (heh, heh) of talent for him now.

--Keep him, ncorbl. Why can't our other veterans put him in his place. If he's mocking players why doesn't Jose V. or Frank put a bat up his ass???

3. Launch Jiminez. Anywhere, minors, Toledo Mud Hens, McDonald's, Village Car wash, doesn't matter, the guy is not helping us. Package him with Colon.

--God yes. Get rid of this guy and Harris. They both suck! Why are they in the big leagues??

4. Bring up Miles for 2B.

--Yes or put Graff there. Get rid of D'Angelo and Harris!

5. Name Valentin team Captain. That would unite the team, the clubhouse especially with those two gone, and spark this team to a great second half. He's not afraid to jump on anyone, including himself, and has all sides of the clubhouse's respect, and would unite. He's the sparkplug, let him fire us up.

--You da man ncordl.

That is all we need to do, nothing more. Once on the playoffs, anything can happen, the team that gets 'hot' wins it all. I'll take those chances.

--I still disagree. Our hitting sucks. We've got to hit the ball if we're going to win anything.

it seems those who don't like Colon are the same people who don't like KW, which makes their opinion completely useless.

how can anyone look at Colon and believe he's hurting us?

No. Unequivocally so.

If anything, he's made this sorry franchise a tiny bit more respected nationally. Last season, we had Todd Ritchie and John Garland as our #2-3, for crying out loud. What a joke...and now we can do some damage in the playoffs, if we ever get there, with Colon-Elo-Burly trio.

Corb, all you have accomplished with this is re-hash your opinions of players.

It is well documented that you don't like KW, Colon or Jiminez and that you love Valentin.

Hell, I'm surprised that you didn't add in a raise for big frank too.

Yeah, trade Colon just when the Sox actually kick it into high-gear. White-Flag II, and Colon's stock isn't even at his highest? If you trade Colon, wait until around the deadline, where teams with a decent farm system will be willing to unload some prospects. A new GM after the all-star break would give him 15 days to make a trade, not enough time to scout, etc.

Great point that Colon does give us a shred of respect nationally.

Colon should go nowhere.

If he is a prick in the clubhouse some veteran should do something to put him in his place or we don't deserve to win anyway.

I've read quite a few 'opinions' on this site. Are people's opinions 'useless' here?

How can anyone look at our 'tub of goo' and believe his 6-7 record has helped us?

With his incentives Thomas will take care of that himself.

Tell you Colon lovers what I'll do, same as last weekend. If our 'Tub of Goo' steps up tomorrow, and I mean pitches like the $12 million guy he wants to be, the workhorse, the complete gamer, the one who gets stronger as the game goes on, if he doesn't quit because our hitters get shutout for 7 or 8 innings, if he shuts down the cUB even with only a one run lead, I'll take back my statements about him and get off his (roomy!) ass. Afterall, I'd really prefer he was what you guys think he is, I just don't believe he is at all.

Since when is an opinion here worthless? I thought it was OK here to have opinions. I thought it was OK to not like KW. I sure as hell don't. He's a disaster by any standard of measurement. I thought as posts go this one was pretty damn good. I agree with 4 out of 5, I'm on the fence with Colon. I thought he was overhyped in Cleveland, but was willing to believe he was ready for true stardom after last year when he went 20-9 for two teams.

I like everybody's opinions, including ncordl who i respect for his inside knowledge.

I'm concerned about colon after what you wrote earlier, but he does give us some national respectablity and we need a stopper the year we make the playoffs.
