At the East Bank Club. He was using rubberbands to assist with lateral lunges. He looked a long, long way from being ready.

Ive got his fragile ass penciled into returning the first week of July and also not being in a sox uniform in 2008.

I'm going to be incredibly pissed off if when he comes back, he shows some of the same issues he's had recovering in the past where he wasn't confident in his jumps/reads. If Pods returns to the lineup, he better be full speed.

It's like a broken record. You know he'll re-injure it soon enough.

What a joke.

Does Guillen not understand Podsednik has to use his legs in the outfield? He's certaintly not going to DH.

He'll be slow regardless of his position in the batting order.

Exactly. He can't play D, can't hit, has no power, has trouble getting on base, and now our manager doesn't want him to use his legs as much, so he has diminished speed. I am having trouble seeing what he actaully brings to the table.....

Grinderism!

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 8, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If Pods is not using his legs, he provides absolutely nothing to a major league baseball team. If Ozzie wants him to use his legs less, he ought to just tell him to spend the rest of the season at home.

Where does he say he is not using his leg.s No one said he is not using his legs - he said less - and then went further by clarifying he will be getting less at bats. He even stated that he wants Pods at the end of the lineup so he has speed at the top and bottom of the order so that tells you he wants Pods to use his speed/legs, just less than he would if he would be leading off because at lead off he would be getting more ABs. JEEZE! Nitpicking little bastards you guys are.

whats the latest on thome?

Going to start taking some swings in the next couple days. Will probably hit in a minor league game or two later this week if everything goes well. Best case scenario is he's back next week sometime.

Man..I know Ozzie has had a man crush on a few players over the years, but he has a full blown hardon for grindErstad. I don't think there is anyway possible he DOESNT get his 600 ABs and 6 mill option, thanks to the mancrush.

Not if he gets reinjured the same week (or night) he comes back.

I said "Best case scenario". Worst case scenario is obviously him coming back too soon and reaggrivating the thing. Thome took 60 swings yesterday. The Sox are penciling him in against the Yankees next Tuesday in Chicago.

Being the man in AAA when Thome comes back as per Ozzie.

I really don't see how the Sox can legitamately justify it if he keeps looking like he has at the plate over the past week or so.

Really? I was under the impression Erstad has been doing quite well since being moved to the leadoff spot.

yeah he has been. Tony was talking about the fact that Podsednik should be nowhere near the starting lineup, "healthy" or not.
