CubKilla
Jumping up and down and high-fiving his players in the huddle at home plate after JV's walk-off HR. There's some energy and fire we haven't seen from JM ALL SEASON!!!!! Now..... if he can show us that he actually knows how to MANAGE..... Damn I really need to see that game I'm usually negative, but this is the PERFECT time to start a hot streak like we did in 2000 and why just stop there? Can you put a price on Jose's homer and his and team's reaction thereafter? It's may be worth more than Cameron's 4-homer game because Mariners were blowing us out in that game anyway. (By the same token can you put a price on Jimenez's awful defense today had we lost? It's worth at least 3-4 non-run errors...)
DonkeyKongerko
JM was in the huddle??? omg i missed that but i saw some great things today. CLee after hitting his HR was in the dugout jumpin on Big Frank and everyone in the dugout is just smiling. I am seeing some happy men wearing the White Sox uniforms. elrockinMT
I'll be watching WGN on Saturday with Hawkeroo and DJ broadcasting. I have a feeling that the intensity will be there and it will be a great game. Colon will be pitching.
Pastime
Once again, Manuel shows that he is a moron. If you are going with Koch (who had been warming up for 2 innings), then you go to him to start the 9th. Instead, Manuel the Moron sticks Koch in the game with the bases loaded and no outs. That's just what you want to do with a closer whose confidence is shot to hell. Pure genius. "Hey, here's your chance to shine. Come in now with the bases juiced and no outs. Let's see your stuff." Manuel is a dips***.

Manuel is a dips***. So you would have brought " a closer whose confidence is shot to hell" into the game at the beginning of the 9th?? All year long people have complained because JM doesn't go with the hot hand and limits his relievers to X number of outs/innings. Now, he stays with the dominant hand and it falls apart on him and he is the goat. IF he brings in Koch to start that inning and Koch blows it, you are yelling and screaming that he was idiot for doing so in the first place. IF Koch comes in and saves it, you are praising Koch for a job well done. I have never seen so many "managerial experts" as I have on this board. It is f***ing easy to criticize after the fact. JM got backed into a hole because he went with the guy that had the hot hand. He had to bring in Koch, when he would much rather seen Gordon finish the job. Get a life people. You b**** about the manager when the Sox lose. You b**** when they win. I guess I am learning that you just like to b****, whether it has any merit or not. Manuel is a dips***. Very true. With the sCrUBS 8, 9, and 1 hitters due up for the 9th, Koch should have been in to start the inning..... especially with Gordon pitching 1 2/3's of relief. Problems aside, he's our closer and that is what he is supposed to do. Close games. The eventual tie, IMHO, in no way should fall onto the shoulders of Koch but on Manuel for, once again, mismanaging the BP.
BrandoFan
Tom Gordon threw about 25-30 pitches before he even reached the 9th, ending up with 40 to my count....this is a 36yo guy with history of serious injuries, one who hasn't pitched really well in years, the small-framed dude who throw in mid-90's with a slider and curves that are VERY taxing on both his elbow and shoulder...No brainer, bring the Kock in, sink or swim. (In any case, I am heading out. Back on Sunday afternoon as usual. )

Granted leaving Gordon in likely buries him for the series, I don't see your # of pitch argument. If he is dominating, give him a shot. If he does well, he could have been out of there with only 6-8 additional pitches. Hell, Koch probably threw more pitches warming up for two innings. You're damn good at making arguments after the fact.
BrandoFan
You're damn good at making arguments after the fact. Wrong again, I agreed with Manuel on leaving Colon to pitch to Bonds AND on taking Colon out at Wriggley even as both moves backfired. Next time don't condescend if you don't have the facts straight, K? To be continued. I am out- have a life to attend to.
YASNY
Hey people, lighten up! We took 2 outta 3 from the Cubs at Wrigley, then the Twins at tha Baggie Dome.... and Jose just gave as a big emoyional lift at home against those stinkng Cubs. The sun is starting to shine on the White Sox. Why bring a big black cloud of gloom and doom into the picture right now? Hell, things are good. Let's enjoy it. CubKilla
I have never seen so many "managerial experts" as I have on this board. It is f***ing easy to criticize after the fact. In my defense, I criticize during the game. All you have to do is look up some of my past posts and I praise JM when he does something right when I would have done something else. But, I criticize JM when he does something wrong when I would have done something else. JM has a history of mismanaging the BP. Koch was brought into the Organization to save games. His track record aside, when the 8, 9, and 1 part of the Cubs line-up is due up in the 9th, you go with your closer. Would JM have been criticized if Koch got lit up? Hell yeah he would have. But that wouldn't make his decision to bring in Koch in the 9th the wrong one. JM got lit up after Bonds HR off of Colon. I was one of the few that didn't criticize his decision to keep Colon in..... HOWEVER..... I don't think it was out of line of me to criticize JM for not having anyone warming in the BP way before Bonds connected. Yet another case in point of JM mismanaging the BP.
