Kyyle23
QUOTE(Beltin @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Thanks. If only Ed Farmer could paint the picture of the game like that. Ha, too many inside jokes will present themselves in that small period of time. Farmio cant pass up joking about something nobody knows about
AddisonStSox
QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) well, i agree that Gio reminds me more of Jim Parque than Pedro Martinez. But do we really need to bring up that stale and lame "We should have got more for Garcia!" argument? Yes. That argument is very much merited. I'll defend that argument all day and night. ...but, not here.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(Beltin @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:23 PM) Thanks. If only Ed Farmer could paint the picture of the game like that. I'm taking a lot of classes for journalism and broadcasting. Makes me more qualified and better at it than Ed is, lol. BTW, that Phelps homer was slightly oppo, to the deepest part of the yard (just right of center) and went 3 or 4 rows up, just to the right of the batters eye. And into the wind, 415 feet. I am impressed. 2-1 count to Abreu, lines it RIGHT TO CREDE. Good job Matt, 5-3 Sox after 7 and a half.
Harry Chappas
Phelps, Cabrerra and Abreu have done nothing all season. Ugh, that turns the line-up over.

AddisonStSox
QUOTE(Wedge @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) trading Garcia opened up the slot for Danks... eventually. Yeah, Danks is great! You're really fishing there, Wedge. I think that line of thinking is dangerous. Make no mistake about it, the Garcia deal opened up the slot for McCarthy; and when Texas made and offer including one of his favorite prospects in baseball, Williams couldn't pass on the McCarthy deal. whitesoxfan101
So in this thread, Gio has been compared to Pedro Martinez and Jim Parque. You couldn't come up with 2 more opposite pitchers than those 2, and you couldn't come up with 2 worse comparisons to Gio than those 2. Wow. How about his presence at the plate? He looked like he was a real keeper last year but I have not tracked his progress since the Sox and Yanks last hooked up. Any thoughts? GoodAsGould
I think the next open spot in the rotation goes to Broadway or Floyd anyways. Unless Gio gets promoted and just destroys AAA we prob wont see him on the opening day roster till 2009

I'll certainly concede that my minor league knowledge is limited, but since day one, Cabrera has always screamed, "over-hyped Yankees' prospect" to me. In the end, I may be wrong, but that's what I'm thinking. Cano, on the other hand, is a fantastic little ballplayer.

He hasn't been the same since he lost his starting job last year when everybody got healthy at the plate. But he's still a really, really good fielder. How about his presence at the plate? He looked like he was a real keeper last year but I have not tracked his progress since the Sox and Yanks last hooked up. Any thoughts? I think he can play every OF position pretty well, and obviously as shown earlier in this game he is very comfortable in LF. He has some things to work with at the plate but he is a young guy playing part-time so cant blame him. I think he is a helluva player and should be starting next year if not for yanks somewhere else.
