Spiff
14 runs on 13 hits for the red sox in the first, johnny damon already has a single a double and a triple. everyone got a hit and scored a run. the marlins had used 3 pitchers before they got an out, and the third out of the inning came on a play at the plate where bill mueller was way out. clujer420
It could have been more than 14. With 2 outs, the Red Sox got a bases loaded single, and for some stupid reason they sent Bill Mueller from 2nd and he was thrown out by 20 feet at the plate. Spiff
Maybe the Red Sox just wanted to mercifully end the inning that's what i think they were doin. mike cubbage prolly got tired of waving his arms at third base.
clujer420
Maybe the Red Sox just wanted to mercifully end the inning It's possible I guess. But, stranger things have happened. If Cleveland can come back from a 10-run defecit against Seattle late in the game (back in 2000 or 2001 I think), a 13 run lead in the 1st is not impossible to come back from. Of course it's not likely, but it's feasible.

1549
Anybody see that Marlins pitcher get hit. Looked ugly, taken off the field in full body + neck support, and breathing aid. I hope and pray that he will be alright. Latest I have heard he is being taken to Beth-Isreal hospital. He is concious and blinking.

YASNY
The was one of the wildest games ever played. 10 runs scored before the 1st out recorded. Damon getting a single, double and triple in the same inning! The very scary sight of that pitcher taking one off the back of the head. Then the near brawl at the end. Baseball always has a way of showing you that you have never seen everything.
