THIS DATE IN WHITE SOX HISTORY: MAY 17

1981:

New Trier East graduate Ross Baumgarten fired a four-hit shutout in the White Sox 9-0 win over Texas before 30,990 at Comiskey Park. Baumgarten retired the first 13 batters of the game and wound up facing just two over the minimum while striking out four. Wayne Nordhagen paced the Sox 15-hit attack with three hits and four RBIs.
