Heads22
Ozzie was sort of nice to him the other day. "Brian just has talent and he doesn't know how to use it. Brian is not a baseball player and this kid (Ryan) is. This kid is mature. Brian, the more he plays, he should be better. Ryan knows what he's doing right now. ... Two different kids. Brian, he went to the game the right way. I'm not going to criticize Brian for who he was. I love him. Everyone should be like that, loosey-goosey." WhiteSoxfan1986
Fields has been hitting a lot better in May, and at least he knows how to take a walk (which is probably why he wont be called up ). But with Jim coming back there is really nowhere for him to play.
Gregory Pratt
QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 18, 2007 -> 05:07 PM) Ozzie was sort of nice to him the other day. What are you saying? All I read there is, Brian Anderson is a white boy and I hate that. I hate Kenny for giving me a white boy. Give me a washed up white man, or a Mexican. I mexiCan't play a young white boy. Did I ever tell you I hate young players, too? Don't trust me with them. Besides, Anderson offends my political sensibilities with his communistic nature. Therefore, I shall do the rational thing and send him to AAA, "best opportunity to win this season!" be damned!
BigSqwert
QUOTE(fathom @ May 18, 2007 -> 04:59 PM) The only two mistakes I really put on Ozzie today in the game were bringing in MacDougal to face a lefty hitter, and not bringing in AJP to catch in the bottom of the 7th. I know that no one cares, but there's a reason I'm not lumping this game along with the two I mention in my signature. What about bringing MacDougal out to start the 8th after a bad 7th? And after giving up 2 straight hits in the 8th, leaving him in?

RibbieRubarb
You guys crack me up. First you say that Ozzie wasn't the reason we won in 2005 because anyone could have managed that team. Then you blame him COMPLETELY when the team loses. So much to call him the WORST manager in all of baseball. (Boy thats not extreme) So, if I have this straight, when we win it has nothing to do with Ozzie or his managerial abilities, but when we lose it ALL because of him. Right? I'm just trying to figure out the double-standard.

greg775
Should Oz have let Mark get out of that jam or is that hindsight? Mac D is bad; so is Sisco. It was a different ballgame once Mac came in. In hindsight I'm sure Oz would rather have let mark try to get out of that jam.

Those guys should be the primary set-up guys. MacDougal has been struggling so that was not the type of situation that he needed to be in. I think Mac needs to be in middle relief or in when we're losing until he gets his confidence rolling and gets to throwing the ball better. My main complaint with Guillen is that he often fails at his primary duty: putting his team in the best position to win.

But you can argue Macdougal shouldnt have gone in for the next inning. Might have saved us a run or 2 given up.

Is that putting us in the best position to win? Over the last few weeks, Thornton has looked very good. His fastball is up near 97 mph, which is great to see. Is that putting us in the best position to win? are you kidding me? Sure Thornton has a shakey beginning to the year, but so do a lot of players. Thornton has gotten his velocity back up to 96-97 and has got a good slider going for him. He right now is our best reliever IMO (not counting Jenks). southsideirish71
I was at this game. First of all, the Cub fans who where there should be ashamed of how they acted after that game. I had one lady throw a beer at me, walking on shefield. This behavior wasnt isolated to one or 2 fans. It was a lot of cub fans targetting a couple of groups around me. I had another couple come up and the guy wanted to fight me, all because I was wearing a sox shirt and hat. I was with a group from work, and the sox fans were targeted. It was almost dangerous how intoxicated and agitated some of their fans were. Ozzie had Masset up the inning before. Ozzie after the game was asked about why he would flip Pagan around to his stronger side. He said, he hits better from the right side. Ozzie was showing the reporters as cheat sheet that had the wrong numbers. Thats a bit embarrassing. And there was no reason that MacDougal was out there after he didn't have it in the previous inning. BearSox
I refuse to go to games at Wrigley Field. Nothing but drunken idiots to be honest. They rather get piss drunk and talk s*** to fans of the other team rather then watch a baseball game. Do you ever see that happen at the Cell? Rarely. Even with Cub fans there. What I hate the most is when Cub fans go to a Sox game and do nothing but talk s***.

dagotony06
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 18, 2007 -> 06:07 PM) This game isn't on Ozzie. This game is totally on Ozzie. If you are gonna bring in MacDougal, he should have brought him in to face Blanco. Or at the least to face Theriot. He totally mismanged that whole inning. Then after Mac gives up 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th, he runs him out for the bottom of the 8th, when the guy gave just gave up the lead by allowing 3 runs the previous inning. That's just assinine!!!
SoxFan1
LMAO, and everyone said the games against the Cubs don't mean s***. Look at the uproar. Yesterday, we were feeling good. Had a lot of momentum and were playing much better. Today, we are nowhere close to contention and Ozzie is worse than Jerry Manuel.
chisox72
It was a sickening loss, period. Ozzie deserves the blame for this one. Mac should have been yanked after he gave up the triple.

SoxFan1
And to add my own Cubs/Sox game story. A few years ago, at a Cubs/Sox game at the Cell, a Cubs fan brought a sign saying something to the tune of "Sox Suck." I saw the guy after a dominating Sox win that day, and he crossed out the sign, and proceeded to write "Favre Sucks" on the other side. All while incredibly intoxicated and nearly unable to walk down the ramps. Solid. BTW, did anyone call out Hall for not blocking that slider from MacDougal? That was a s***ty, half-ass effort that cost us a run.

It's one game. These games honestly don't mean any more or any less to me than a game against the Devil Rays, and yes I'm 100 percent serious. Obviously others feel differently but that's how I feel at least. Hate all you want.
