I'd like to see Dewon Day's BAPIP. It has to be above .400 . Another typical outing (so far): 1 IP, 1 R (unearned), 2 Hs, 3 Ks.

Well he has 45 Ks and 25 hits allowed in 23 innings. 23 innings=69 outs. That means he has 24 outs left (not counting double plays or other things that would change BABIP, etc.). That's 25/49 ha. Some double plays would make it even higher if I understand how that stat works.

Day has been ridiculous this season. He is K'ing everyone and their mother, but he is also giving up a lot of hits and walks. Replace those hits and walks with more K's and oh my, do we have something special.

I am predicting Day will be with the big league club come August at the earliest. I personally want him up here ASAP because of his age.

I predict he never hits the majors.

Cunningham FINALLY with a nice game, Schnur being Schnur, ditto for Carter and Lucy, ADAM RICKS, nice to see Fields continue to gradually heat up, and wow Owens has been really good lately. Also, Getz with his first poor game at the dish in ages and Anderson 1 for 3 with a walk and no k's is nice. Today's random stat: Jerry Owens right now has 20 walks, 20 strikeouts, and 20 steals. HA!

Day at some point this year will somehow record a strikeout and hit allowed to the same batter (and Russell was amazing, and Oneli continues to heat up). Vasquez rules, him AND the pirate for Cotts? At least that makes me feel better about us vs. them. McCulloch with 7 k's and a good outing? WOW.

never?

I can see not with the White Sox, but never? He throws with the ball in his left hand and has a great slider. He'll have to get a shot eventually, even if for only a week or two and not from the White Sox organization.

He's a righty, and his BABIP indicates that he has absolutely no control of his pitches other than flipping them wherever in the strikezone.

Wite also explained to himself why Day probably won't ever make it up here. He is 26 (or is it 27? I just remember his DOB is 1980) and although he has an electric fastball and slider (hence all the k's), he has no control of it (hence all the hits allowed). Unless he learns some semblance of control inside the strike zone, he's stuck in the minors.

Day hasn't really done anything deserving to be considered as even a September call-up. His strikeouts are "sexy", but that's the only thing he has going for him.

Aside from having the best slider in the org and I don't exaggerate when I say that.

And his BABIP has to go down when you consider he's only given up 1 home run. I know he almost throws "too many" strikes, but that BABIP will go down and so will his ERA if the strikeout rate continues.
