3E8
What a fall from grace for Carl. Don't feel too bad, he made 45 million dollars during his professional career.
Chisoxfn
QUOTE(3E8 @ May 21, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) What a fall from grace for Carl. Don't feel too bad, he made 45 million dollars during his professional career. I'll always love Carl for his dinosaur comments and firey attitude. RME JICO
Still kind of odd that the Sox have not made an official announcement of the move. They must be waiting until they make their other move before doing it. Also, there is no reason just to leave a 40-man spot open "just in case" so something has to be coming soon. I say Craig Wilson or Bret Prinz.
southsider2k5
This also could have been a message to the lockerroom for someone like Andy Sisco that the groundwork is laid for a trip to Charlotte.
hitlesswonder
QUOTE(fathom @ May 21, 2007 -> 07:31 PM) Lidge and Burke for Crede and Anderson. I'd like to see that deal, even though I'm sure many on here would hate it. I'd make that trade in a heartbeat. I'm absolutely sure the Astros wouldn't. Burke is under control cheaply for years and despite being sent down is still Biggio's heir apparent/ QUOTE(fathom @ May 21, 2007 -> 08:55 PM) Yeah, the more I think about it, the more I'm against it. Lidge has to be close to a big payday soon. Lidge is a FA after 2008. Why would you be against the trade? Crede has a bad back and 1 year max left with the Sox. Anderson is done in Chicago. The Sox wouldn't give up much and they would get a youngish 2B to takeover for Iguchi and possibly leadoff and Lidge gives them the flexibility to make another deal. Harry Chappas
Houston and the White Sox could make tremendous bed fellows as they both are in the thick of it and a bold move could help them greatly. If Houston wanted Crede which I doubt, what would they do with Ensberg? I could see Lidge for McDougal (prior to his last couple of outings that is) and another prospect, maybe Logan. caulfield12
QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ May 22, 2007 -> 08:24 AM) Houston and the White Sox could make tremendous bed fellows as they both are in the thick of it and a bold move could help them greatly. If Houston wanted Crede which I doubt, what would they do with Ensberg? I could see Lidge for McDougal (prior to his last couple of outings that is) and another prospect, maybe Logan. Obviously I wouldn't mind getting rid of MacDougal about now, but moving a lefty who throws 93-95 pretty consistently, I'm not ready to go there yet. I think Logan will come around in time, and we definitely need him as insurance, because it looks as if Sisco's future is in the starting rotation for Charlotte or Birmingham. RME JICO
Just FYI. First baseman Craig Wilson has cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Wilson is available for any team to sign at the Major League Baseball's minimum salary of $380,000. The Pirates are among several teams that will likely have interest in adding the bargain bat. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07142/787954-63.stm Edited May 22, 2007 by RME JICO

29thandPoplar
Agree on the thumbs down on Craig Wilson. He strikes out a ton. As for Brad Lidge, I believe The Boras Factor is in play.
iamshack
Say what you want about Crede's injury, and impending departure from the ballclub, but he's still a gold glove 3b and one of the top hitters in MLB with RISP. I don't think Lidge's value, to our team anyways, even approaches Joe's.
