WhiteSoxfan1986
http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/?p=288 It would be great if he could keep this up and be the first Sox to win ROY since Ozzie.

maggsmaggs
I think if he can post similar numbers to Matsusaka in terms of ERA, I think he can take the ROY award away from him. Even though Dice-K will have more victories, I think they will look at the difference more closely than other years and give the award to Danks. That being said, Danks will have to really pitch well with teams seeing him for a second and third time to stay right with Dice-K.
AddisonStSox
Is it just me or would a White Sox Rookie of the Year award mean more for the organization than a league Most Valuable Player award? Yes, this is a slight exaggeration, but having a White Sox rookie designated with a Rookie of the Year award would be a major turning-point for White Sox prospect development and talent evaluation--although Danks was, in fact, developed elsewhere. GoSox05
Dice-K will win it cause he's so hyped and hes on Boston
maggsmaggs
QUOTE(GoSox05 @ May 21, 2007 -> 04:17 PM) Dice-K will win it cause he's so hyped and hes on Boston I think that is why Danks will win if he and Dice-K are close. The Boston voters will vote for Dice-K, but I think others will go to Danks because he is a true "rookie" and didn't have the hype. I would agree for the points you made, it would represent the Sox having a true young gun.

Matsui had the better numbers in 2003 but lost to Berroa.
DBAHO
Would be interesting to see the impact on the voting if Danks pitched in Boston and Dice K pitched for us now wouldn't it, if they similar numbers towards the end of the season.
thedoctor
danks is the man.
BearSox
He's got that ERA down to 3.78, and it seems safe to say that he will improve his record to 3-4.
bmags
like others have said, i think danks has the one up for a rookie of the year award being that many have a "not a true rookie" kind of bias.
whitesoxfan101
Danks winning ROY would be more a testament to how well the organization sandbagged about a meh prospect like B Mac, then got a superior and solid arm for him in return, than anything else. GoodAsGould
QUOTE(BearSox @ May 22, 2007 -> 09:26 PM) If I was a Ranger's fan, I think I'd be contemplating suicide... B-Mac has had 3 very good starts in a row, he has a blister in his hand now or something but he was really turning it around. In the end I think this can be a good trade for both teams. Probably a little better for us though.

If Masset is anything, it's a brutal robbing as is without Masset. The whole reason Texas made the trade is Brandon was ready now, and Danks and Masset supposedly weren't, and that logic is not going so well. The whole reason Texas made the trade is Brandon was ready now, and Danks and Masset supposedly weren't, and that logic is not going so well. Well considering Masset was in AAA last year and dominated as a RP in the arizona league or whatevr, im sure he was thought to be ready. And yes, it was thought Danks was a year away which so far it seems like that was definitely incorrect. But its still way way 2 early to judge this trade. Chisoxfn
If Danks and Dice K had identical numbers I would guarantee you that Danks would win the rookie of the year (I don't care if Dice-K is playing for Boston, the media just doesn't like voting for the guys coming from another professional league...they will do it, but only if the player is considerably better than the other rookies). And by no means am I saying Danks will win the rookie of the year. We can start discussing that after the opposition has faced him a couple times (I love watching the guy pitch though and I can't imagine what he'll do as he continues to gain faith in his secondary stuff and improve his command). That and pick up a nice cutter/2seamer to run in onto the hands of righties.
bmags
well, i'm not gonna hand danks the ROY yet, i realize the more he pitches the more other teams can try and form a battle plan against him.
RockRaines
BTW, up close, Danks' curve is filthy. Its hard to see how much it tumbles on tv.
