Jenksismyhero
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2008 -> 10:43 AM) How much are you offering? Lol, I dunno. I thought I could get a 360 all set up for under $350, but the more I look into it the more it's looking like it'll be a $500-600 dollar investment - pro system (300), extra controller (40), wireless adapter (90), game (60) and a year of the online membership (50). That's insane to me for a system that's 3 (or 4?) years old and is nearly guaranteed to break on me.

Well, if it comes with 2 more years of Warranty through Best Buy (they just hand you the new system, you keep your hard drive), that has to make some sense, right? I have the above listed warranty (1st year's up this month, but two more years on top, and I play the sucker lightly) 360 Pro, the 360 HDMI cable, an extra controller, the wireless charger with an extra battery pack, and Madden 09/NBA 2k9. I think we could figure something out if you're serious. PM me. Edited November 3, 2008 by Steve9347

Sitting up all night playing NBA 2k9 just doesn't fit into the lifestyle like it would have 3 years ago. If you never play your Wii, perhaps we can discuss a purchase. Marky Mark
Hey I don't feel like reading 102 pages of this. I just received a Wii as a belated wedding gift. If I had a preference I would have wanted a 360, but a gift is a gift and I'm still grateful for it. I'm sure there are some fun games for this system, I just have no idea what they are. Wii sports (the game that came with the console) was definitely not fun. In the past I've enjoyed these games: Halo CE for Xbox (not H2 or H3) MVP Baseball 05 for Xbox Goldeneye for N64 MarioKart for N64 Starcraft Broodwar for PC Suggestions for decent Wii games? Wii is not as fun as people make it sound, its for little kids.. the games you listed you wont find for Wii, at least not at the same enjoyable level that you would on a 360 or PS3 MarioKart is a good game for Wii.. Zelda: Twilight Princess was awesome as well. I don't like the sports games on it, but you can buy the 64 games and play them through the Wii so I guess that could help you out there

Can we cut it with this crap? There are plenty of older Wii owners on this board. Statistically the average Wii owner is older than the 360 owner and the Wii has more units within the 18-24 demographic than either PS3 of 360. No we cant cut this crap I don't give a s*** if there are older Wii owners on this board that doesn't change MY opinion on the system. Of course statistically the average Wii owner is older than the others because I don't think it goes down on the purchase as a 10 year old bought the system. Im sure there are plenty of people who own both systems just because most gamers are like that. Doesn't change the fact that I think its for little kids and the more enjoyable games to me are on the other platforms. Just because you are a Nintendo fanboy doesn't mean im gonna change my mind about what I think of the Wii. If you like the Wii, more power to you I already said that I liked a few games on it. I'm just saying it's an extremely flawed and downright wrong opinion then, given that the Wii has single handily changed the industry by attracting an astounding amount of older gamers. If you enjoy games on other systems better, fine, fair enough. Hardly makes the Wii for "11 year olds". But I guess that makes me a Nintendo fan boy, even though I've made it pretty clear the PS3 is my favorite console this generation.

I would agree with him that the Wii is not as fun as other systems in general. But that is just MY opinion. My reasons are b/c the game selection, IMO, isnt as good, graphics are obviously not even close, and I personally use my console for stuff other than gaming. However, despite that fact that I would never buy a Wii for myself, I absolutely love going over to friends houses and playing it in a group. IMO it is a great "group play" system, I'm just not in love with it for the solo/online play. I'd actually argue that it isnt even a direct comparison to 360/PS3 b/c it targets an entirely different kind of gamer and experience

chimpy2121
I had a Wii but traded it in. The only game I really liked was MarioKart, but that got boring after a while. The thing that made the system for me was the Virtual Counsel. In the end, PS3 gave me a higher entertainment value, so I sold the Wii and got a PS3. I still play my friends system though. I know, and I dont really care what the bad things are about the system(you hear me BobDylan?) I enjoy it, it is relatively inexpensive, and when there are a lot of people involved there are some pretty fun party games. IMO Nintendo needs to get over themselves and let the 3rd party developers do their thing, and also bring in the Nintendo brand games. For whatever reason Nintendo just cannot let 3rd party developers have any freedom, and it drives a lot of them away. What I want is a sequel to Eternal Darkness, that game was so much fun, the insanity meter (and the results after you let the insanity meter drop) was awesome

BobDylan
QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 04:56 PM) The Wii is cool... if you're 11 While I'm not a fan of the Wii (was a previous owner of the system), it has done an amazing job reaching the demographic that the PS3 and 360 cannot. When I first had the system, I played it with a few people who don't like video games and they had a blast and ended up buying the system. At that time, I also had a PS3 which I showed them, and while I was "wowed" more by the PS3, they didn't care. They were astounded by the graphics, but when I put the controller in their hands, they didn't get it and didn't care. If you're a gamer or even an occasional gamer, the Wii is not for you. The games aren't especially deep, but they offer interaction with the games that PS3 and 360 don't. I'll tell you this: if the Wii had the power of either PS3 or 360 or even just the same game developers behind it, there is no doubt in my mind that I'd own a Wii. But Nintendo didn't go that way and they haven't since Sony and Microsoft stole the show. They've searched for other ways to reach different demographics, and with the Wii, have ultimately ran the show, while Sony and Microsoft battle for the people who will always be there for the market. Besides, I think the Wii is setting a new shape for gaming. While the technology will certainly be refined and improved, I don't think controllers will be the same when the PS3 and 360 reach the end. Interaction with games is an incredible thing. Little Big Planet is another, though different, example of this--and on the surface, that is a game for 11 year olds, but deeper, it's quite sophisticated. The Wii doesn't tap into my gamer needs, but it's not a childish system. It deserves some amount of respect for taking the risk that it did and introducing people who don't care for video games to them. That said, until they try to reach the people Sony and Microsoft are after, I'll never buy it again.

You pretty much said it, people who aren't big into gaming would prolly like the Wii a lot because its not like a typical video game system. Its like, cool I get to use my hands to do things and its like im really bowling or swinging a bat, this is fun. Little kids love the Wii, people who don't play true gaming type games love the Wii.. its fun when you have a bunch of people playing. Now for true gamers, im sure they also think its fun when you have a bunch of people playing. Thats not always going to happen and when you are sitting there by yourself its not that great in my opinion. I would much rather be playing something on 360 or PS3 than having a Wii just for the sake of having fun when there is a bunch of people over.
