Does anyone know a place aside the flea market and online where I can buy nintendo 64 games? Preferably around the south suburbs, but I'll be willing to go to any place within Chicago.

From a google search: http://www.jjgames.com/system/n64?gclid=CO...CFRlRagodv1MwSg

Don't know if the site is legit.

Not local, but maybe a place you've never thought of.

Swap O Rama owns.

I'm probably going to swing by there before I go back to school. I was down at the flea market near Maxwell Street on Sunday with my dad (he goes there for cheap, stolen tools) and found Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem Zero Hour for $10 combined. It re energized my appreciation for n64.

The links you guys listed are good. If I can't find any of the games I want (which are basically all platformers, aside from WWF No Mercy) I'll probably order online.

There are bad wii games and good games. Same with Ps3,360 and my example: dvds. So, yes it is.

The amount of shovelware on the Wii is probably more than with the PS3 and 360 combined because it's so popular and it's easy for 3rd party companies to make money. There are good games for the Wii obviously, but they are marketed at a completely different audience. Furthermore Nintendo's been the "family" console for a good 10 years now, so yeah, they're gonna have a lot of kids games, many of which will be s***ty.

this i disagree with. Nintendo has historically been a problem with 3rd party developers because they try to control so many aspects of the development on the system. Their 3rd party "family" is kind of small. The WiiWare is a different aspect which is giving 3rd party developers opportunities to test out games, but its still pretty strict.

I still love the classic catalog to download from though

That was in the past, it's not nearly bad as it used to be. Nintendo's arrogance was their undoing from the #1 spot, and they started losing 3rd party support with the N64, what with the whole disk drive fiasco. I'm pretty sure they've learned that lesson, they're back at #1 and they want to stay there. Granted, the easiest system to write for is probably the 360, but if you just want to make a quick buck by making a crappy game that has some token gimmicky use of controls, the Wii is the way to go.

Agreed. I think it's the gimmick of the motion control mixed with the "family" link they've created to the system that has allowed them to produce absolute crap. They know (and 3rd pary developers know) that you can stick a good looking cartoon picture with some action words on the front of the box and mom/dad/grandma/grandpa will think it's a great game and buy it. See: Wii Music.

What games do you want?

Donkey Kong64

Banjo Kazooie

Banjo Tooie

Conkers Bad Fur Day

Perfect Dark

Excitebike 64

WWF No Mercy

Paper Mario

Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Diddy Kong Racing

Castlevania

Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness

It would seem that the most difficult to find (for a reasonable price, atleast) are DK64, Conker and Paper Mario. If I can pick up atleast three from the local swap o rama I'll be happy. I just hope the bastards aren't charging $30+ for some of these games.

I'm really pissed at myself because I remember a time several years ago I went to Gamestop and they had all these N64 games for $15 and under, and now, I'm lucky if I can find them anywhere.

You can probably download an emulator for your computer and download the games for free. Then just buy a controller that'll hook up to the PC. Don't take my word for it, but I know the Playstation 1 emulator works well and those two systems came out around the same time.

Regardless, the good games for the Wii are so much more fun to play than the good games for the other systems. That's in my opinion, of course.

I don't see why they haven't managed to create a game that combines MLB Power Pros with the simple motion ability of the Wii Sports Baseball game. If they made this simple connection, and had it so you could swing as the real players as well as Wii Sports allows, I'd probably never put it down.

Yeah, that'd be f***ing awesome, and it seems like it'd be so easy to create. Get the MLB license, add in things like bunting, stealing, and contact/power swinging, and I'd be addicted. Why won't they do it?

North Dakota has a collection of stores called Rock 30 games

Rock 30 games

There's one in Bismarck, and I found The Adventures of Link for $10. They also have Mega Man X2 for $40 on the site, and - as a super Mega Man fan boy and an absolute love of the X series on the SNES (though X4 was decent) - I'm honestly thinking that's a good deal, considering I've seen it for like $50-70 on eBay at times. What do you guys think?

The best advice I could give you would be to pick one up one ebay pretty soon because you are correct and x2 can go for 50+ a lot of the time. For whatever reason though the prices of x2 and x3 are down considerably.

At the moment the average used Mega Man X2 is going for right around $25 on ebay. The average X3 is actually going for right about $40.

Should employers discriminate against World of Warcraft players?

Posted by Cory Doctorow, December 15, 2008 10:02 PM

On a gamer forum, a vigorous discussion about whether it's fair for employers to discriminate against World of Warcraft players when hiring, on the grounds that WoW players are never fully out of the game. A surprising number of players agree with this proposition.
