Harry Chappas
This move last week will cause Danks to pitch in Minnesota Monday and face Santana, again.....instead of facing Kazmir at home. I am not sure if the Sox looked at this when making the decision earlier this week but shouldn't it impact the process, unless they push Danks back with the off day which doesn't make sense either. I get the feeling this organization will just choose to start forfeiting games against Sabathia and Santana. THIS IS NOT A SLAM ON DANKS BY THE WAY!!!!! I just feel you should give the guy a little better shot to win. Unless the organization thinks Danks is better suited to face the divisional rival then Contreras. RockRaines
They just couldnt move the Count up a start. The rotation is no longer a 1-5 situation as the season has already started. Plus its now RLRLR
Harry Chappas
QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 25, 2007 -> 12:33 PM) They just couldnt move the Count up a start. The rotation is no longer a 1-5 situation as the season has already started. Plus its now RLRLR After the Doubleheader they had the choice to start either last Tuesday and bring the Tuesday guy back Sunday which should have been Danks. It was RLRLR just it was RRLRL which turns to RLRLR one time through.

It used to be RRLRL, and either way it is still one RHP between two LHP. It doesn't really matter where the LHPs are as long as they do not follow each other. striker
Great now Danks will lose to Santana instead of losing to Kazmir, who will both dominate our hitters.

watchtower41
I think Danks has already proved that he doesnt need to be cuddled and handled like a baby. Its not like were dealing with the Bears qb situation aronud here.

And now that you mention it I really should do an update tonight.
joeynach
I think it might have something to do with Min being pretty crappy against LHP this year.

How do you figure its Left first, Contreras pitches before Danks in the rotation.

That's amazing you know that already. Hey, the Cubs are playing the Dodgers and the Marlins at the same time. Why don't you watch those games instead of the losers on the South Side. elrockinMT
I think too much is made of the opposing pitcher (s). Our pitchers just have to go out and do their best job everytimer and not worry about whether it's a rookie facing someone like Santana, or another good one. GoodAsGould
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 25, 2007 -> 03:21 PM) Because Danks and Contreras flipped Not really, Conteras stayed right in his normal spot, Danks took over Garlands spot. Since Massett pitched they didnt "flip"
BearSox
The only time having a "true" ace or no. 1 matters is when it is opening day, you need a win, or in the playoffs. Otherwise, as the season goes on, the true order of the rotation really doesn't matter.

Our pitchers just have to go out and do their best job everytimer and not worry about whether it's a rookie facing someone like Santana, or another good one. That's true for everyone besides Santana and Sabathia. When we face those guys, the team seems defeated before they step on the field. RME JICO
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 25, 2007 -> 06:24 PM) Not really, Conteras stayed right in his normal spot, Danks took over Garlands spot. Since Massett pitched they didnt "flip" For simplicity they did flip since Masset was just added to the rotation and did not replace someone who missed a start. Count normally pitched after Danks, and now he pitches before him. So in essence, they did flip with the others staying at 2,3, and 4. Anyway you look at it, it is the same exact thing, and you can actually say it 5 different ways, with each guy being #1.
TheHammer
John Danks doesn't care who he faces, he just goes out there and be's John Danks.
whitesoxfan101
I'm a lot more concerned with how Danks pitches than who he faces. As we saw up until his last 3 starts, Danks can't control the run support he gets, only how he pitches, and he pitches well even if he gets no help. RME JICO
Now it doesn't matter because with the rainout Contreras will face Santana on Monday.
spiderman
Next time they face Santana, they may as well just rest any player with a cold or worse. They have a loser mantality when it comes to facing him.
