GoodAsGould
The KO of the night has to go to Todd Duffee no? Broke the UFC record with a 6 or 7 second knockout. Guy looked pretty big too, I wouldnt mind seeing him matched up against Gonzaga since both had relatively easy fights and can get back in the octagon soon. Kenny Hates Prospects
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 12:11 PM) Couture/Nog was easily a FOTY candidate. Great show put on by both men. After this performance if Lesnar didn't have a match, I'd easily make Lesnar/Nog for November or December. Thiago went back to doin' work. I say since Vera's got this new found attitude, let's put him in there against Thiago. Marquardt with a beautiful KO. So since this was impressive, do you still give Hendo the shot? Or do you have them fight for a "true" #1 contender. Fun card of fights. Agree on Randy-Nog as a FOTY candidate. I'd put it up there with Torres-Mizugaki, Benavidez-Cruz, and Faber-Brown II. This was the first UFC fight this year I can think of that I immediately thought worthy. I think the UFC was just anxious to get Brock back out there, but Nog-Lesnar is certainly a more emotional fight. I hope Brock beats Carwin and then after that I'd love to see those two go at it. In the meantime it would have been great to see Nog get revenge against Mir, but Mir is already fighting Kongo. Maybe Nog waits it out and gets the next title shot. Agree that Thiago Silva-Vera would be a very interesting fight. Anderson and his manager want to see Hendo and Nate fight it out for #1 contender. Anderson wants a little break. There's a story about it on mmajunkie.

Kenny Hates Prospects
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 04:26 PM) Kampmann/Condit didn't do it for you? Guida/Sanchez? I wouldn't put Guida-Diego on that because from my seat that was a one-sided asswhipping in Diego's favor. Normally a fight has to be very competitive to be a FOTY candidate IMO, but the Nog-Randy fight is a candidate because of the names involved. Even though Nog won that fight in a no-brainer decision, it was like watching something historic, like some great moment in the sport's history, and it kind of took it to a level beyond that of your normal extremely exciting fight between two lesser-known fighters. Just seeing Randy and Nog look like their old versions and go three rounds toe-to-toe was incredible. Completely forgot about Condit-Kampmann and you're absolutely right. Definite FOTY candidate from the UFC. Edit: BTW I've become a total WEC homer and as a result I usually think about those fights first. SoxFan562004
I have to respectively disagree with you KHP about Diego/Guida, that was definitely a FOTY candidate for me. I am really looking forward to the Kampmann/Swick fight. Big Nog was on the front page of ESPN.com as their main headline after he won last night. I would like to see Nate/Hendo fight and have Anderson fight another fight at 205 or he and Mir have been talking smack lately, have that at HW. Kenny Hates Prospects
Okay, so let's take some votes here for FOTY among us few but proud SoxTalk MMA fans 1st place vote = 5 points 2nd place vote = 4 points 3rd place vote = 3 points 4th place vote = 2 points 5th place vote = 1 point Let's make a list of FOTY candidates, and then we can vote on it. And we can keep this running too until the end of the year. I'll add these fights: Takeya Mizugaki vs. Jeff Curran - adding this one too Benji Radach vs. Scott Smith - didn't like this fight but has been mentioned, so will include it Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson - s***ty ending with the eye poke, but great fight up to that point Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva - completely forgot how awesome this fight was ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So here are the named candidates so far: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Randy Couture Diego Sanchez vs. Clay Guida Martin Kampmann vs. Carlos Condit Dominick Cruz vs. Joe Benavidez Miguel Torres vs. Takeya Mizugaki Urijah Faber vs. Mike Brown II Takeya Mizugaki vs. Jeff Curran Benji Radach vs. Scott Smith Rich Franklin vs. Dan Henderson Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir II ...and feel free to add any fights to this list as you think of them. Then we can vote at the end of the year, or whenever. And I vote that we enforce a penalty upon any who have not seen these fights to check out mmalinker.com and view said missed fights in order to continue receiving posting privileges in this thread. longshot7
Lesnar/Mir just because of the result. All honesty, Nog/Couture was great but Nog did not finish off Randy the few times he had him in a great submission. Good result tho. Great ppv - loved the knockouts. SoxFanForever
Off of that list I'd definitely have to go with Martin Kampmann vs. Carlos Condit. I really enjoy Condit's fights.

Kenny Hates Prospects
The green ranger is going into MMA. The red ranger did gay porn. The pink ranger posed topless (remember this from back in the day, had the pictures). Someone else on the show murdered a family supposedly to pay for an operation to get a sex change and then, while in prison, attempted to cut off his penis with a razor. ...and that's all I know from a short google search. There are probably a thousand more tales to tell. I remembered that show as a kid, and I guess I can see how they've all ended up so f***ed. Those putties (sp?) that they'd fight (basically jobbers, jabronis, etc.) were pretty creepy, like they'd wear tight chubby suits and hide out in rocky outcroppings waiting to jump out and suddenly defile these productive young members of society sexually, and then they'd get their asses kicked, but in the process they'd anger the head child molester, who had this gigantic robot thing that I'm sure was capable of holding a lot of candy. So then the power rangers would make their own robot and fight the molester robot and then something else would happen and yadda yadda. But the point is, these wholesome young actors were severely traumatized. I feel bad for the green ranger and getting crushed in MMA probably isn't what he needs right now. SoxFan562004
In two weeks it is an UFN, the premier of TUF and 103 right after the opening week of football... that's a pretty sweet week of sports, too bad the Sox aren't in the race!!! SoxFan562004
Penn/Sanches is official for 107 now, not a 3rd November event. I am also seeing some buzz that Reljic is going to come back. I haven't seen any article confirming this, so I'm not going to get my hopes up, but if he does that's a real exciting fighter the UFC is adding back from injury. If anyone sees an article or a good source please post. Edited September 4, 2009 by SoxFan562004

Kenny Hates Prospects
That blows. Swick-Kampmann could have been another FOTY candidate. Instead, though I like Semtex, expect Kampmann to get him down and make short work of him. What also sucks is that if Kampmann wins then I assume he's still getting GSP, which is kind of dumb because beating Paul Daley doesn't exactly make one worthy of a GSP fight. And then GSP will crush Kampmann, same old same old. At least with the Kampmann-Swick fight we would have gotten to see one possibly great fight out of the two. I heard GSP isn't going to fight for a while, so is Kampmann wins, he might line up with Swick again before the winner faces GSP. Not that it matters much...GSP is too good at 170. Have to look at LHW and HW for competitive divisions.
