The Sears Center was absolutely electric tonite when Fedor came out, it was awesome. There were alternating "USA" and "FEDOR" Chants for the entire fight, and when Fedor landed that haymaker, the entire crowd came off the ground. It was great, I had a really good time tonite. Mousasi was impressive, Shields was boring and lost the fight in the chokeout, Mayhem had an absolutely hysterical intro dancing with his girls, and Fedor was just amazing.

That unorthodox punch Fedor throws, it is just something else. His entire momentum just compounded into his fist

Chuck Liddell also has unbelievable punching power from awkward angles.

Fights were good last night. Meltzer posted the quick overnights, it was 3rd out of the 4 CBS MMA shows, CBS was last out of the major 4 networks but importantly it won the desirable male demo advertisers want. Not a huge success ratings wise or a massive failure, hopefully sounds like something they can build on.

Wren got jobbed, absolutely no way he lost that fight.

Exactly, he had been my pick to win the whole show.

Despite the fact that it was sloppy, after the second round I thought it was at least going to round 3, if not Justin's victory already.

Yeup. Justin won the first round easily and the 2nd round could have went either way, I probably would have given it to Roy though. I just don't understand how anyone could have gave round 1 to Nelson.

To me it was a 1-1, I'm not sure how 2 judges saw it 20-18. My best guess about why we see screwy decisions is the "octagon control" aspect of judging. I think some judges only award the initiator of an exchange, even if their opponent gets a little better during a counter... I don't know, just a thought.

Also some great news, Spike is showing Kendall Grove vs. Jake Rosholt and Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders free before 106. It seems like this is going to be a regular thing, which is great for MMA fans!

Anyone think Mitrione bails?

I don't think so, I think they would have edited it and promoted it so people knew Kimbo was going to fight again.

Yeah, he'll fight in the finale, I imagine they'll try and give him someone he has a great shot of beating so they can put him on another UFN card.

Mitrione really doesnt seem interested in fighting, Wren was right about him acting the part in the car, he looked really ridiculous.

And if I remember right he was acting like this before his first fight, acting like his shoulder or something was bothering him.

Great point.

The rumor is Houston Alexander, and if that's true I'm taking Houston.

I would to, but it depends how big of a 205'er Houston is. I don't see any way Kimbo could cut to 205, he's 230 and shredded as it is, so if Houston is a light 205'er, say it's a HW fight and Kimbo is 230 and Houston is like 210, then the 20 lbs give him a shot, but everything equal, yeah I would take Houston

I thought I read somewhere that it would be at 215.

The rumor is a catchweight, but IIRC Alexander has fought as a HW outside of the UFC so maybe they could do it somewhere between that and 230. I don't think it matters a whole lot though because Zuffa just wants to sell this fight.

It is kind of strange that they would put this on for free, especially during the TUF Finale where they have to keep everything secret until the finalists are announced. One would think this would be a fight they'd want to push pretty hard. Given Kimbo's drawing power it would be interesting to see how much a fight like this could boost a weak PPV.

Another main event ruined by s***ty judging. I think it's about time they work on ways to change this up a bit. I'd say this was Vera's best performance.

Hardy solidified his spot last night, but at this point it's hard for me to take him as a challenger to GSP seriously.

Bisping needed that W last night, I still don't see what all the hype about Kang has been about though.

Agree on the judging of the main event, I had Vera 29-28 and I don't see how you can give the 2nd and 3rd rounds to Randy at all. That's control over damage and effective striking, which is BS.

Hardy was very impressive IMO, I had definitely underrated him. I thought Swick was going to take him out, but he showed a great chin and an excellent ability to counter effectively against a guy who IMO is a quicker striker. Those sparring sessions between Hardy, Etim, and Semtex must be great some entertainment.

Kang is the Javy Vazquez of MMA, and I mean the pitcher, not the fighter Javy Vazquez because the fighter Javy Vazquez is better than Kang. I still think Kang is a better athlete and a more complete fighter than Bisping, but I didn't think he had much of a chance in this one. He's capable of some really great things but it'll never happen for him. He just folded, again, after looking strong in the first round.

There's a Javy Vasquez of MMA?

Also, Brock Lesnar is seriously ill according to Dana. Like, we don't know if he'll fight again ill. Dana said it's not cancer or AIDS, so I guess we'll wait & see.

Big Nog w/ another staph infection that's gotten into his blood stream. He's out for the long-term as well. This throws a serious wrench into the heavyweight picture.

So, who fights who?

Yeah, MMA's Javy Vazquez has been around a while and has fought all over the place. Recently he had been in EliteXC, then Affliction, and now he's in the WEC 145lb. class, just losing a couple split decisions. He's a very well-rounded guy with sick BJJ. If you watch all the WEC live shows you should see him soon, unless for some reason they cut him (and I hope they don't because he's very good). He also has (or had, not sure) a video blog kind of thing on Sherdog where he'd pick the winner of a fight and display techniques that he thought would help his pick win the fight.

The news about Lesnar and Nog is kind of scary. I really hope these guys get better and quickly because Lesnar is just getting better and more exciting, and Nog was just looking like the real Nog again. That's so sad. I hope when/if these guys come back they're back at 100% after full training camps. The UFC shouldn't think of rushing either one to fill out a card.

Don't know who is going to get what fight, but I wouldn't be too shocked if they made Carwin vs. Velasquez for an interim title in Mexico. I haven't read this anywhere, it's just my speculation, but they want Cain to headline in Mexico, and if Lesnar is going to be out for a long time I think it makes sense. Then when Nog comes back you either put him against the interim champ if Lesnar is still out or give him a #1 contender fight where he'll face the winner of Lesnar-interim champ.

Wow, what a s***ty event last night. Good thing Pacman-Cotto was entertaining.

Vera might've got jobbed but does it really matter? If you cant beat Couture at this point then youre basically irrelevant in the UFC. I cant stand Vera so I'm glad he lost though. Couture needs to hang it up before he really gets hurt. But then again, he's paying for another divorce so he might need the cash.
