SoxFan562004
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 10:27 PM) It was funny hearing Goldie say Maynard improved a lot on his boxing after getting tooled by a "pure boxer." Well, I guess he's still getting tooled then. Gray can be a human boring machine but whatever. I hope he gets the shot because if BJ vacates the LW belt after the fight it could mean a potential Frankie Edgar-Kenny Florian/Gomi fight for the vacant belt, which would be pretty damn interesting IMO. Sucky night of fights for the UFC tonight except for Escudero-Dunham, which was very entertaining. WEC > UFC at least as far as free events go. Also, neither Tom Lawlor nor Aaron Simpson are "beasts" despite what the broadcasters said. Really disagree with you there, those guys are to good up and coming fighters (although Simpson is in his mid 30's). That was a good fight. They are perfect for UFN cards. LW probably is the deepest division in all of MMA, these are two quality fighters who put a good fight on a free card, I also thought the Esodero (sp?) and Dunham fight was entertaining as well. MHizzle85
Boring night of fights. Lawlor/Simpson was the most entertaining fight of the night. With that being said, I'm sticking by my statement of Gray being the most deserving of the next title shot. But it doesn't mean much at 155 because it's like being the tallest midget at this point. BJ would wax Gray, but since I'm a BJ fan I don't mind watching BJ hand out another ass whooping.
SoxFan562004
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...8&zoneid=14 Hope this rumor is true (and mmaweekly.com is usually good about fight cards) because it has Goran Reljic coming back to fight. That guy has a ton of potential but had to take a long time off because of a serious injury, hopefully he comes back 100%. Not confirmed on ufc.com, but they don't finalize the undercards to real close to the actual card.

SoxFan562004
interesting, the first Vs. show has Bones Jones vs. Vera and Junior Dos Santos vs. Gabriel Gonzaga. Those are bigger fights than they put on Spike and with the Direct TV feud going on the ratings will most likely be lower.

Josh Gross who's an SI journalist says he fully expects some kind of resolution to be solved by March. Hell, they would need to otherwise they're wasting this card IMO
SoxFan562004
Looks like Brock will be on ESPN tomorrow morning to address his future, I believe it's 9 a.m. central, but I could be wrong on that time. The UFC will also be doing a 3 part UFC Prime Time show (the 24/7 style show they did for GSP/Penn) to hype the GSP/Hardy match. A little surprised because I think Hardy is a good/exciting fighter, I think GSP is the clear favorite in this match, but I can see them selling him to the casual fan real well. SoxFan562004
http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...9&zoneid=13 Brock will be back in either May or the summer. Winner of Carwin/Mir if the winner isn't struggling with an injury or the winner of Cain/Big Nog. Also looks like Florian/Gomi for UFN 21... as far as I can tell this is not the Vs. card, they're not calling the Vs. card an "UFN" but this will be on Spike Edited January 21, 2010 by SoxFan562004
Kenny Hates Prospects
I'm so happy Brock is back. I just love watching this guy fight. Frank Murr is going to realize his dream is more of a nightmare if he can get past Carwin, but I doubt he will anyway.

Kyyle23
Mir has been talking a lot of s*** about Brock. Last time he beat Mir, it was to "get the horseshoe out of his ass", this time I think it will be much more personal and Brock is going to try and hurt him. Kenny Hates Prospects
QUOTE (zenryan @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 08:03 AM) I hope Mur wins just to see Brock ruin Mur's life. Lesnar is calling Mur his "stalker" which is funny. It's funny because it's true. Mir talked so much s*** about the advantages BJJ students have over big, strong weight lifters, and now he's spending all his time in the gym lifting freeweights so he can get big and strong like Brock. Against Kongo, Mir showed off his new back tattoo, again just like Brock. I bet in his fight against Carwin Mir will debut a new vag-shaped grenade tat on his chest and come out to a Metallica cover band or something instead of that Kanye crap. It's like his whole existence now revolves around Brock and little by little he's losing himself in it. If Mir gets past Carwin, the day after Lesnar-Mir III, Frank is going to be running around the woods with a blonde buzzcut looking for deer. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 08:08 AM) Mir has been talking a lot of s*** about Brock. Last time he beat Mir, it was to "get the horseshoe out of his ass", this time I think it will be much more personal and Brock is going to try and hurt him. Yeah, it's not like the last fight was close or anything, in fact the first one wasn't either. It was all Brock and then he made a dumb mistake and got subbed. Probably 7 out of 10 refs don't even call for the stand-up in the first fight and Brock ends up finishing Mir in that one too, in just his second pro fight, which is nuts. But that last fight was just brutal. That was like watching a gay rottweiler rape a sad poodle. Frank has the right ideas now, with all the work he has been putting into his boxing and his strength and conditioning. He's about 100X better than the fighter he used to be already, and he should thank Brock and Nog for that because he needed the extra motivation. But that said, there's Carwin, there's Fedor, there's Nog, and I can't think of anyone else right now that would make for a tough fight for Brock at the moment (and I love Cigano BTW, I have ever since I saw some of his Brazillian fights before he KO'd Werdum), and Fedor is the only one I could actually see putting money on to beat Brock. I mean, if you're a great striker, Brock will take you down and beat your ass. If you're a great wrestler, you're still not better than he is, so you have to try to catch him before he puts you in his world. If you're a great BJJ guy, well you better be f***ing awesome off your back because that's where you're going to be if you have any striking ability worth mentioning. Frank's hope is a big shot lands or Lesnar makes another rookie mistake on the ground, but Brock isn't a rookie anymore and his control from halfguard is sick, and Brock also took a big flying knee from Frank and still finished the takedown, so he's got the chin. IMO Frank's best outcome is Sherk-Franca for about 3 rounds until he's done.
Kyyle23
No, Brock/Mir II wasnt close at all. GoodAsGould
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 09:10 AM) No, Brock/Mir II wasnt close at all. Mir's face looked like hamburger after the fight, he was resembling the elephant man with how lopsided his face was when he started swelling If I remember right Mir did have one really good kick or punch to Brocks face that for a second or two had him dazed but it also led to Mir being taken down which lead to the end of the fight as well. Carwin will be a big test for Mir though, its the one guy in the UFC who is as big as Brock even though he isnt near the athlete, if Mir looks as dominant as he did vs Kongo I'll be looking forward to a 2nd rematch. Well, they're handpicking his opponents. Not surprised. About Brock, I'm happy he's back. Until his interviews turned into him being so anti-healthcare for everyone. We get it Brock, you're not for it. Now that he's healthy, I can go back to hoping Mir kicks his ass this summer.

I know, I just hope Strikeforce picks that up a little, I want to see better matchmaking, but I understand their roster isn't crazy deep. It can come back to bite you, happened a little with Cung Le, they can get a little mileage out of Smith, but if Simms can pull an upset, which through experience he has a chance, it can derail that train real quick

MHizzle85
Strikeforce tonight was entertaining. Lashley showed nothing in running over Wes Sims, it's time for a step up in competition. Holy s*** Robbie Lawler. He pulled a serious KO out of his ass there. Walker looked good, but then again it seemed that I had as much skill as the guy he was facing... I was getting my pizza out of the oven during the women's fight. But from what I saw, another dominant performance by Cyborg. Diaz & Zaromskis went in there & scrapped. Diaz's boxing was just too much.
