Sisco to AAA

Hilarious, I was about to create this thread:

Is it time to send Sisco down?

At this point he has almost no value to this team. He has not put in back to back quality outings this year while his ERA has quadrupled since late April to 8.36. He has a WHIP over 2.00 and his BAA is now over .300.

He needs more seasoning, just like Logan did last year. Send him down and try someone else out. With Thornton and Logan in the pen, a 3rd Lefty does not get enough IP anyway.

I know these threads seem to pop up after losses, but this one could have been made after almost every Sisco outing lately. He still has the talent, but he just needs more time to master it. Right now he is making his 2006 numbers look legit, where he had a 7.10 ERA and 1.82 WHIP.

Its about time.

Do we STRETCH!!! him out? or keep him in relief?

Relief....I can't fathom how he'll ever be able to get thru 3 innings with the amount of pitches he throws. I'd rather he focus on trying to throw 98 mph again.

I disagree.

The Sox should start converting him into a starter again, and keep him down at Charlotte for the rest of the season while he "irons out the kinks". He has more value as a starter for us down the line I think.

You could then use Broadway or McCullough to acquire a lefty reliever if you're desperate, but hopefully one of the guys we call up can do the job in the mean-time.

Do you think he could ever have the consistent control to be a starter? I gotta go with fathom on this, figure out a way for him to get his velocity back to the upper 90's and get it over the plate enough to get people out in relief. There are way too many things to take care of for him to be a starter.

I can't see him being a starter right now. I agree with fathom. He needs to get his control to the level that he can pitch in the major leagues. They have to get there first. Maybe he works on things and next year its good enough to be a member of the bullpen. If it improves from there, he can try and be a starter. I'm sure the vendors would love to see him in the rotation. Games would be 4 hours long.

Well I blame the Sox brass for not taking this route in the 1st place in terms of making him into a starter when they acquired him especially after he looked last season.

He may look bad right now, which is why I think it's just worth taking the long - term route with him and stretching him out, which is what he actually wanted when we acquired him. He hasn't shown any success being a lefty reliever for us, so why not try a different role for him?

Control wise is a big issue of course, but we've seen similar sort of pitchers like Thornton do a lot better, so there's arguments for keeping him as a reliever also. We'll see which way it goes.

I agree make him a starter in Charlotte, even if he is longterm still a RP. By making him starter it gives him more innings and work to fix his control.

Sox made this move to clear rooom on the 25 man roster for Ichiro. Dye is moving to LF.

I don't blame the sox. Sisco did well in the bullpen in 2005 for KC. If he would have put up those same numbers this year, the sox pen would have been in good shape.
