whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) It can't get worse than the last two months of last season, when every game, he said the following: You know what DJ, this is the most talented team I've ever seen. I can't believe they haven't gelled yet. I've talked to scouts of the opposing team, and they all tell me that you guys will be fine, don't worry. You know what DJ, if it wasn't for the two injuries, Ozzie might be going for his 3rd straight World Series title. I'd rather listen to Hawk do his impression of "The Ranger" than b**** and moan like this. Somebody needs to tell him Yaz hangs out with you 24/7 after you retire. fathom
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:11 AM) Is this team that bad? Well of course it's not. But that isn't good enough in the AL Central everybody. We are a 3rd or 4th place team in this division unless something very strange happens. Just pray that they either start playing well or they fall 10 games or so behind the Tigers/Indians. The last thing we want to see is a team that can't catch the leaders who won't trade their impending free agents.
southsideirish71
Hawk is Santo with legs. He whines like Santo, he blames mythical crap like Santo, and he cheers like Santo. I dont like either. Go to soxfest, and you will hear him in person tell you this is the most talented sox team, and the best soxfest he has ever been to. The guy has to be on prozac to be so happy happy. CWSGuy406
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:10 AM) Danks is our fifth starter. He is a 22 year old rookie that has pitched out of his mind so far. You knew he would have a bad outing. It happens. These games are magnified because the offense decided to take a dump on the field for 2 months. It would be nice to see the offense try and help out after they s*** on the field for 2 months. Wait till it gets warmer outside? Can we still say that?
GreatScott82
Watching this team is killing me softly... there is no fire.. no hitting.. the pitching is starting to collapse... as of right now this team is going nowhere fast and i don't see it changing for the better any time soon. The Twins, Tigers and Indians just have better lineups and better teams than we do. I really don't know how KW can fix the problem this season?!? I know the year is far from over but this team has no life whats so ever and is no better than an 83-84 win team.
dagotony06
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:10 PM) Terrero Erstad Masset Danks (until tonight) some of the Sox hitters SEEM to be coming around, somewhat (LOL) Thome's healthy, I guess 21 pitches, 20 pitches, 30 pitches already I'll give you some of those. Listen I'm as big a Sox fan as anyone here, have been for 36 years, but the way this team is playing, since the season began, I'm not positive about too much. Since the 2nd half of last year until now really, this team just doesn't exude confidence or positivity.

Danks will take some lumps from time to time. He is 22, and is learning on the job. His numbers and his starts sans this one have been great. The team decided to not hit this year, or this kid could be have a few more wins.
whitesoxfan101
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Where's our Boof Bonser? I missed the memo about our starting staff being the problem. Greg The Bull Luzinski
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:13 PM) Iguchi would have been fine FIVE years ago, but he's aging rapidly and his defense is starting to hurt the White Sox as well. He was actually a pretty decent stolen base threat in Japan and was relatively quick his first season with us, but he's gone downhill steadily since then. The lack of speed on this team is downright amazing. Iguchi and particularly Dye seem to have gotten slower this off season. Team speed matters and we must be last in the league, particularly with out Pods and Ozuna. We have to be the slowest team in the majors.

He's the best reason to watch the Sox right now. However, he's going to keep having to make some adjustments this year as he goes along. I'm just thrilled we get to see him develop and not Floyd. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:17 AM) I missed the memo about our starting staff being the problem. The question you SHOULD be asking is where's our Pat Neshek or Matt Guerrier (although we originally drafted Guerrier, IIRC). Our starting pitching seems to be fading just a touch right now. Of course, a bullpen that allows every inherited runner to score doesn't help.

The last thing we want to see is a team that can't catch the leaders who won't trade their impending free agents. I can't believe I'm saying this, but... I agree with Fathom. I really want this team to either play up to its offensive potential and stay healthy (the picthing is fine), or to fall apart so we can move forward. That said, this is NOT some awful team the way some of you are putting it. Its a slightly above average baseball team, even with the hitters slumping. If the hitters get back to their career averages, this is a team that could still make the playoffs. So, that's what I'm hoping for. But if that's not possible, then I hope they fall deeply into 4th place.

But everybody needs to remember to evaluate this team based on the division as much as the team itself. Hell, we could win the NL Central if we were in it, but this group will not cut it in the AL Central. The question is will we fall out of it enough to give KW a chance to trade at the deadline and reload (which I don't know if he'd swallow his pride to do anyways), or will we just hang close enough to keep it as is and end up fading to 3rd or 4th place.
