You mean "next year", the year that Ozzie/KW are already admitting there's likely to be less talent on the team? :P

Not sure where the hell the rest of team will stand, but I'd sure love to have Hunter right about now.

Liriano went on the DL last yr and the Twins were still in 2nd place...they won without him too! But having him sure would help more

When you lead the league in the 2nd half with a .299BA, and also lead the league in ERA post allstar break with a 3.50 thats how you play almost 700 baseball for a long time.

What from what you have seen says both of those are going to align anytime soon.

Me too, but it makes no sense to waste a lot of money on an aging player if we're going to have young guys filling the other holes.

Mauer and Morneau> Liriano on their influence on the run last year.

Here's the question I have about our roster right now: with the way things are constructed, don't we basically have to play both Erstad and Thome against every LHP we face? It's not exactly a good thing to have two miserable hitters against LHP in the lineup every game.

The twins don't have to hope -- they can pencil in a good 4 or 5 runs scored on the Sox pen today. And the Sox won't touch Neshek Rincon and Nathan.

We're gonna get a couple this inning. At least I am hoping we do!!

Mauer and Morneau plus the emergence of other pitching and a solid bullpen is what did it more than Liriano. Liriano helped them have a silly run for a short period of time. But wasnt the reason they played 700 ball.

Well you could put Terrero out there for Erstad.

Rock...I'm thankful you are in this game thread. Christ you'd think this team hadn't won a game yet all season based on some of the stuff people are spewing.

Hey, I'm not one of those who are calling for a fire sale or want to blow anything up. I'm still positive about this season and also about this particular ballgame.

My point was in answer to those implying that the reason the Twins scored four runs is because Garland is getting squeezed. When the umpire calls a close one against the Twins pitcher nobody notices much. But when he calls one against Garland, Hawk and some here start using it as an excuse. If the Twins hitters would strike out swinging on a bad pitch after getting a close call by the ump, nobody would notice. But because the Twins hitters are more selective, they capitalize on the situation and then Hawk and some here whine about the one close call that didn't go their way. That's the point.

You leave the starters in, unless you are in a one run game and you have a specific matchup you can exploit late in the game. You dont pull starters in the middle of a game to exploit the middle reliever.

The question I was answering was fathoms about a lineup featuring Erstad and Thome vs. a LHP. It had nothing to do with advocating pulling a starting position player to exploit a middle reliever. I was suggesting Terrero as a starting option vs. a starting LHP even though I am not a big fan of Terrero as he is an undisciplined hitter in my opinion.
